A white Florida resident, Susan Lorincz, was sentenced to 25 years in prison for fatally shooting her Black neighbor Ajike Owens last June. The shooing reignited discussions of racism in America and "Stand Your Ground" laws across the nation.
Florida State Attorney William Gladson announced that his office would not upgrade the manslaughter charge brought against Susan Lorincz to murder in a statement on Monday. Lorincz was arrested for the shooting death of her Black neighbor Ajike Owens, who was unarmed as she stood at Lorincz's door on June 2nd.
