NFL Suspends Three Players for Violating COVID-19 Protocols

The NFL has officially suspended three players for violating the league’s COVID-19 protocols. Two of the players, Antonio Brown and Mike Edwards, are teammates of Tom Brady’s on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers while the third is free agent John Franklin III. All three players will be ineligible to play for the next three matches. The players have allegedly misrepresented their vaccination statuses and thus, violated the protocols. The Memphis Grizzlies have added another historical feat to the franchise, this time scoring a franchise-high of 152 points against the Oklahoma City Thunder. The Grizzlies beat OKC by an NBA-record margin of 73 points with their 152-79 victory. Just back in February, OKC took a 57-point loss at home in a 152-95 defeat to the Indiana Pacers, making it the largest home defeat in the history of the league. FIFA to Implement Offside Limb-Tracking at Arab Cup

Building on top of VAR, FIFA is now introducing a new “semi-automated” limb-tracking technology that’ll help referees determine whether a player was offside. According to FIFA, the new system relies on a series of 10 to 12 cameras installed under the roof of each stadium. Together, the cameras can collect an incredible 29 data points 50 times per second per player, and once it determines that a player has been caught offside by tracking their limbs at the very moment a pass is made, the system will automatically alert to replay operator, who will then review the footage and communicate with the referee. LeBron James is expected to miss several games after being listed in the Los Angeles Lakers‘ COVID-19 health and safety protocols. Shams Charania of The Athletic first reported that the NBA star will sit out of tonight’s game against the Sacramento Kings as he enters protocol, however ESPN Senior NBA Insider Adrian Wojnarowski revealed that James might miss at least 10 days. “Players with positive Covid cases must be out a minimum of 10 days,” he tweeted, adding, “Players with Covid must be out 10 days, or return two negative PCR tests in a 24 hour period.
