The police in Lagos, on Friday, warned that the burning of several police stations across the state will lead to retrogression and a waste of money that could have been deployed to other projects. The police spokesperson in the state, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, gave the warning in an interview with newsmen in Lagos. “The implication of this is that money that has been set aside to do other projects and develop certain areas will have to be channeled into repairing these damaged stations.” He said that over 17 police formations across the state have been totally or partially razed by fire, set on them by thugs who infiltrated the #EndSARS protesters. “Also, it will make our work harder now because we will have to enhance our patrols in order to cover more grassroots areas that are normally covered ...
Tension as traders desert Gudu market
The police have mobilised to the Gudu Market following reports of the killing of an unnamed man in the market on Thursday. It was gathered that traders have deserted the market located in the Gudu District of Abuja. A trader, Madu told newsmen that “everyone left the market in fear after the corpse of a man was found in the vicinity.” “Because of the attack by thugs on Tuesday, everyone was afraid that the violence may spread to the market. So, we all locked our shops and ran. I don’t know the circumstances surrounding the man’s death but the market has been shut down”, Madu said on the phone. At least three people have been shot dead during a clash between thugs and police in Ibadan, Oyo State capital, on Tuesday, witnesses say. It was gathered that police opened fire at hundreds of youth during #EndSARS protest Tuesday morning. As a result, some thugs launched an attack on a police station in Ojoo, Ibadan. At least five protesters who were present at the scene told newsmen that six other protesters are severely injured. The pictures and videos of the victims are also trending on social media. PDP condemns attack on Borno governor
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has condemned the attack on the convoy of the Borno State governor, Babagana Zulum, by insurgents during which at least 15 security operatives attached to the governor were killed. NAF rules out foul play in first female combat pilot’s death
The Nigerian Air Force has ruled out insinuations of possible conspiracy in the death of first female combat helicopter pilot, Flying Officer Tolulope Arotile, who was knocked down by an old schoolmate at the NAF Base in Kaduna. EFCC arrests six suspected internet fraudsters in Abuja
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) says its Abuja Zonal Office has arrested six suspected internet fraudsters for alleged involvement in cyber crimes. Spokesperson of the Commission, Mr Dele Oyewale, said that their arrest was sequel to several intelligence garnered overtime about their suspicious lifestyles.
