Hans Zimmer has offered his own assessment of his storied discography, naming his score for Christopher Nolan’s 2014 film Interstellar as his favorite with the caveat that his best is yet to come. The German composer revealed his answer in a video clip he shared over on TikTok. “People always ask me what’s my favorite score and I keep avoiding answering the question. And how about I don’t avoid it this time?” Zimmer said. “I’m going to tell you that the first, the favorite score that I’ve ever written, I think, is Interstellar. Or, I haven’t written my favorite score yet. So, maybe that’s the better answer.” Watch Zimmer name-check the Interstellar score below. Considering Zimmer has more than 100 soundtrack and film scores under his belt since the early 1980s, there is plenty of room for ...

Swedish House Mafia and The Weeknd have reportedly joined forces for a new single, which will appear in the Avatar: The Way of Water soundtrack. The new song will be released on December 15th at 3pm ET, mere hours before the James Cameron-directed film swoops into theaters. Swedish House Mafia’s resounding, cinematic production bellows underneath brooding vocals from the The Weeknd, who croons, “I thought I could protect you from paying for my sins / You give me strength / I would do either way / Nothing’s lost, no mo...
Ever since we talked to Julia Jacklin last August about her love for Céline Dion, we’ve been patiently waiting to hear her sing the Canadian crooner’s stone-cold classic “My Heart Will Go On.” Our prayers were answered last night, as Jacklin finally covered the Titanic anthem at her show in Madrid. Jacklin would probably agree that nobody can belt quite like Dion, but with backing vocals from her tour support Erin Rae, the Aussie’s rendition of “My Heart Will Go On” is gorgeous in its own right. They even go for the key change! And we’d bet Jacklin has been thinking about covering the song for a while, considering how much she fawned over Dion in her interview with Consequence: “If someone is shit-talking Céline Dion, I’m like, ‘What do you find joy in?’” she said. “I’m not...
Based on that iconic dance scene, the Nevermore Academy is the place to be for Wednesday’s goth fans, so it makes sense that the fictional school’s orchestra is credited with the Netflix series’ soundtrack. The Wednesday soundtrack begins with a string performance of The Rolling Stones’ “Paint It Black,” courtesy of Miss Addams herself. From there, the Nevermore Academy Orchestra takes us through the chorus of Fleetwood Mac’s “Don’t Stop” before turning to some classical favorites: Vivaldi’s “Four Seasons – Winter: I. Allegro Non Molto” and Elgar’s “Concerto in E Minor for Violoncello and Orchestra.” Wednesday has been a runaway hit since premiering on Netflix earlier this month — it even broke Stranger Things’ viewership record. Tim Burton’s take on the Addams Fam...

Animal Collective provide the score for A24’s upcoming film The Inspection, and today, the Baltimore band have shared “Crucible,” the first look at the movie’s soundtrack. Listen to the song below. Elegance Bratton wrote and directed The Inspection about the life of Ellis French, a gay Black man who joined the Marines to support himself after being ostracized from his family. This is Halloween, of course, but Danny Elfman’s October 28th show at the Hollywood Bowl was more than just a Nightmare Before Christmas theme party. During a whopping 32-song set, the artist celebrated all the phases of his career, from his Oingo Boingo days to his film compositions and his latest solo album, Big Mess. Elfman played a ton of Oingo Boingo songs — “Insects,” “Just Another Day,” and “Grey Matter” among them — for his OG fans, while also throwing in enough film suites (Spider-Man, Batman, Beetlejuice, Edward Scissorhands) to remind you that he’s had a hand in more iconic soundtracks than you may remember. Backed by both a regular rock band and an orchestra, a choir joined Elfman for classics like “This Is Halloween,” effortlessly running through all the voices of the gho...
