(Extinction Level Event), Slushii has announced the next chapter of his career, revealing his signing to Steve Aoki’s longstanding Dim Mak imprint. The prodigious electronic music producer also released a brand new single called “Forever With U.” According to a press release, the bubbly future bass tune kickstarts “A Slushii Summer,” which will see him release a new single every Friday before unveiling brand new, 15-track album on September 23rd. An iridescent showcase of his vibrant production style,” Forever With U” echoes the quirky and lighthearted sounds that propelled Slushii to early acclaim. Filled with bright synths, melodi...
With his next album, Slushii is aiming to register a seismic sonic impact. On the precipice of revealing over three years of work in the studio, Slushii has opened up about the direction of his forthcoming album, E.L.E. (Extinction Level Event), which he says is an ode to the brostep era of the 2010’s. “This album is the culmination of three years of my best work. I really felt that there was a need for an album to revive the early 2010’s brostep machine, and fix it up with some new modern tech,” Slushii said. “This is a slow burn type of album, and one I hope you listen to front to back that can stand as a new beginning in the book of Slushii!” Slushii. With a new anime series and album on the way, fans of Slushii have a lot to look forward to in 2022. For the past three years, Slushii has been working on the most ambitious project of his career. He’s now set to release a brand new album on Monstercat next year as well as a full-length anime developed by the mind behind the music. In the meantime, he’s whet fans’ appetites with the release of the first single off the album, “Turn It Up.” With a downtempo, hip-hop-inspired intro, Slushii lets listeners slowly wade into the water before plunging them into the deep end. A barrage of metallic wobbles and dramatic synths dominate its massive drops and the final product is an action-packed, futuristic release that brilliantly primes fans for the rele...
Ray Volpe somehow got every producer in the world to send him an unreleased drop for his latest mix. Just in time for bass music fans en route to Lost Lands or preparing their home for the livestreams, is the fifth and biggest installment in Volpe’s “Banger Zone” mix series. This time around he’s recruited dozens of artists to share unreleased tracks, which he mixed together to create a heavy-hitting, 45-minute romp. Fans of his original releases will have plenty to enjoy, as he’s included several unreleased and fan-favorite tunes of his own in the 51-track tape. Joining his songs are unreleased records from NGHTMRE, Adventure Club, Lucii, Slushii, Sullivan King, Ace Aura, Crankdat, Wooli, Dion Timmer, and tons more. The mix also rinses bass classics like ...
Monstercat, one of the most celebrated labels in modern-day electronic music, is celebrating its 10-year anniversary with a bevy of special releases across different platforms. Earlier in the month they dropped a monster compilation featuring some of the brand’s biggest songs and artists of the decade. As you may know, the label is no stranger to the video game world. They’ve been the soundtrack provider of the massive vehicular soccer video game Rocket League for quite some time now. In honor of this prolific partnership—and a decade of success—they’ve now debuted a special Monstercat 10 YR Fan Pack and free items for players to enjoy in-game. Anyone who logs in during the event will receive a free player banner and anthem. For those unfamiliar with the game, ...
EDM and video games go together like peanut butter and jelly—and their relationship is about to get a whole lot cozier with the newly rebranded “Sakura Chill Beats” YouTube channel. Launched this month by Sony Music Japan, the first-of-its-kind project will be a hub for official electronic remixes of anime and video game theme songs, with new selections available every Saturday at 1AM PT (4AM ET). The first track released on Sakura Chill Beats was RetroVision‘s remix of “Ashiato -Footprints-” by the peggies, out June 19th. Bright and upbeat, the original song was the ending theme of the anime television show My Hero Academia. RetroVision transformed the indie rock anthem into an electronic banger with soaring synths and a scintillating future h...
Slushii has long been revered for his versatility in the studio, widely considered a sound design chameleon with his genre-defying approach to bass music production. This time around, however, he’s gone in a completely unpredictable—and awesome—direction. Slushii has quietly uploaded two new songs to SoundCloud under a new alias called Dinner With Judy. He tells us that he “randomly made hyperpop” under a new nom de plume, dropping two tracks in as many days. The raucous “Blackout” arrived on June 6th as the de facto debut of Dinner With Judy. The track is a saccharine hip-pop jam with punk-inspired guitar riffs, which harkens back to Slushii’s earlier work. He then followed with “sandboy” a day later, dropping a breezy indie-dance...
Following the announcement of super-label Monstercat’s massive partnership with popular multiplayer online battle arena game SMITE, famed electronic music producer Slushii has officially released his in-game song, “Valhalla.” With its relentlessly punchy drums, crushing bass, and melodic elements, the roaring dubstep tune serves as the perfect soundtrack for Slushii’s unique SMITE skin for the Hades character. The skin, introduced in the exclusive Monstercat SMITE battle pass, transforms Hades into an imposing DJ with two turntables and Monstercat-themed speakers, while “Valhalla” plays in-game. “When Monstercat and SMITE approached me about this project, I couldn’t have been more excited,” said Slushii ...
