SLANDER, Alison Wonderland, and Said The Sky couldn’t let 2022 close without having the last word. The trifecta of show-stopping artists arguably saved their best for last with their brand new collaboration, “Picture.” And it’s the blow-the-doors-off type of track we could have only dreamt of. Each tastemakers in their own right, the trio meet in the middle of their stylistic crossroads, yielding a densely melodic anthem with a strong future bass flair. Perhaps less surprising is the notion that “Picture” plays straight into their strengths, specifically in the rigorous building and diffusion of tension. From dainty chords and distant, celestial soundscapes to voluminous synths dripping in reverb, “Picture” rides the wave of melancholic ...
SLANDER know first-hand how invaluable a good co-pilot is. The duo of Derek Andersen and Scott Land recently released their debut studio album, Thrive. Released on September 22nd, the record is a culmination of a decade of touring in tandem, co-producing songs and putting their creative heads together. It’s a formula that has brought SLANDER no shortage of success. In fact, brief deviations from their shared journey have been uncomfortable and unwelcome. “When we’re performing, we can lean on each other,” Andersen tells EDM.com. “I think that’s super huge. We’ve both done a couple of solo shows over the course of this journey. Personally, I remember doing a show. Scott was having surgery and I think it was in Thailand a couple of years ago for 25,0...

SLANDER, is that you? The barnstorming bass music duo have taken an unexpected dip into techno, keeping fans on their toes before the forthcoming release of their long-awaited debut album, Thrive. SLANDER’s new single, “Before Dawn,” speaks to the still moments of darkness before light creeps in. From the moment the track begins, listeners are taken down an eerie and unfamiliar soundscape fitted with industrial kick drums and a ferocious bassline. SLANDER have no remorse as the arrangement relentlessly chugs forward before making way for an entrancing break. Here, soothing piano chords percolate through the mix in dreamlike fashion, instilling the sense of serenity that embodies darkness before it’s transmuted into light. And just like the earth’s d...

It’s all led to this for SLANDER. It’s been quite a journey for the barnstorming bass music duo, who launched their musical project way back in June 2010. Longtime fans will recall SLANDER’s humble beginnings, graduating from the L.A. music production school Icon Collective and cutting their teeth in the electronic scene by way of their nostalgic “heaven trap” sound. “Here’s to the future!” SLANDER wrote in a 2014 Facebook post after completing Icon’s final exams. Little did they know just how far they would fly. Cultivating a fiercely loyal fanbase, SLANDER eventually became a lynchpin of the EDM festival scene, appearing on the lineups of the world’s largest events.
