Just three days after releasing his first official solo track since 2019, Skrillex is back with another release, a collab with Siiickbrain and Rae Sremmurd’s Swae Lee. The aptly titled “Too Bizarre” is a full-fledged pop song and even further of a departure from the bass-fueled Skrillex music of old. The arrangement here was made for radio, with Lee crooning over a number of guitar riffs and punk-inspired vocal harmonies. A jarring vocal at the halfway point courtesy of Siiickbrain brings the track into its final gallop before the last chorus takes it home, tying a bow on a catchy—and strange—new Skrillex release. As the road to Skrillex’s mythical sophomore album becomes more and more clear, it’s anyone’s guess where his sound is going moving forwa...
It’s officially Skrillex season and we all should just buckle in for safety. Just one day after releasing his first official original song since 2019, Skrillex took to Instagram to share a preview of a new joint track with Siiickbrain and Rae Sremmurd’s Swae Lee. The clip is short, but fans can get a taste of what sounds like a massive electronic-pop collab. In the caption he noted that he’ll release the “incoming” track once the post reaches 20,000 comments. It obviously eclipsed that goal in a matter of three hours thanks to comments from Baauer, Kaskade, SLANDER, Aazar, and virtually the entire EDM community, so fans can expect the tune to release in full soon. Check out the preview below courtesy of Skrillex’s Instagram. FOLLOW SKRILLEX: Fa...
Skrillex has finally dropped the curtain on new music, unveiled a stunning new collaborative track with Starrah and Four Tet called “Butterflies.” Longtime fans of the dubstep legend may be dismayed at the lack of bass, but it doesn’t make the track any less impactful. “Butterflies,” which arrives by way of Skrillex’s OWSLA banner, is a hypnotic house banger that only reinforces his reputation as the most versatile producer in electronic music. The single begins with distorted vocal chops, which act as a siren song that leads into an alluring percussive beat serenaded by Starrah’s sultry vocals. What follows are three wholly unique drops, each of which rumble with the pristine engineering and nuanced sound design for which both Skrillex and Four Te...

As Skrillex continues to subtly hint at the long-awaited release of original music, word of an unreleased collaboration with Kid Cudi has dominated the EDM and hip-hop rumor mills. It started when Skrillex, who hasn’t released a solo album since 2014’s debut Recess, purged his Instagram of all content for a second time. He also conspicuously changed his account’s profile picture to one affixed with a caption that reads, “You can now add music here.” Skrillex (via Instagram) The Instagram wipe doesn’t point to Cudi whatsoever, but that soon changed after Proximity poured gasoline on the rumors yesterday, May 4th, after the EDM channel tweeted about the unreleased track and sparked widespread speculation that it will be released this Friday....
It looks like Skrillex and josh pan are dropping new music next week. While we gear up to hopefully hear new Skrillex music sometime soon, there’s no better time to look back at some old festival footage of the beloved artist. A rare video of his set from Serbia’s EXIT Festival back in 2014 has recently surfaced for the nostalgic. Though seven years ago, the quality of the video feels like it could have just been captured. Skrillex expertly throws down hit after hit like “Make it Bun Dem,” “Bangarang,” “Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites,” and many more. The energy in the stadium is palpable and envy-inducing with not a mask in sight. EXIT Festival is currently celebrating its 20th anniversary by releasing some iconic legacy sets, including those by Skrillex, Bad Company, Adam Beyer B2B Ida Engberg, and more....

Justin Bieber has finally unveiled Justice, his sixth studio album featuring production from Skrillex and Virtual Riot, among other high-profile electronic music producers. The two dubstep heavyweights are credited as writers on the album’s opening song “2 Much,” a stripped-down piano ballad. Check out the contemplative track below. There’s no doubt that longtime fans of both Skrillex and Virtual Riot will be dismayed at the absence of the artists’ signature production elements in the brooding “2 Much.” However, it’s important to note the musicality present in the track, the ambiance of which features beautifully nuanced sound design, like subtle vocal chops and faint strings. Considering their proclivity to crea...
