New ASCAP Listing Signals Super-Collab From Skrillex, JAY-Z, Beyoncé, Future and DJ Khaled

The tide of new Skrillex material doesn’t appear to be diminishing anytime soon—especially after details of the superstar producer’s next high-profile collaboration quietly appeared on ASCAP. The formidable lineup of Skrillex, Future, JAY-Z, Beyoncé, and DJ Khaled are all listed together under a recent ASCAP entry simply called “Tip.” Two accomplished songwriters—ConeyGurl and three-time Grammy Award nominee Denisia Andrews—are also mentioned along with producer Joseph Zarrillo, whose credits span the hip-hop spectrum from Lil Wayne to Post Malone.  Details about “Tip” are scarce, but the recording’s ASCAP listing displays Skrillex, Future, JAY-Z, Beyoncé, and DJ Khaled as collaborating artists. Skrillex Hits the Studio With Thys of NOISIΛ

Skrillex has enough unreleased music in his hard drive to make even the most encyclopedic audiophiles swoon. The latest dream collaborator to join the dubstep legend in a studio session is Thys, a member of the fabled electronic music trio NOISIΛ. Skrillex took to social media to share a photo of the two working on new music, as well as a video that did not contain sound. The post arrives nearly a month after the release of their collab “Supersonic (My Existence),” which Thys said was created around 2010, when they “made a lot of music together.” Thys joins a slew of major artists to work on music with Skrillex over the course of the last year, including Justin Bieber, Top Dawg Entertainment artist Zacari, and Mike Einziger of Incubus, among others. Watch Skrillex and J Balvin Party Hard in Video for New Collab, “In Da Getto”

Skrillex and the Prince of Reggaton, J Balvin, have finally unveiled their hotly anticipated collab “In Da Getto” alongside a rowdy music video. The new single, which was co-produced by Tainy, samples the melody of David Morales and the Bad Yard Club’s 1993 dance hit “In De Ghetto,” featuring Crystal Waters and Delta. While electronic music fans hoping to hear a classic Skrillex banger may be dismayed at the lack of bass here, there’s no doubt the Urbano-house hybrid is jam-packed with club energy. Directed by Alfred Marroquín, the neon-soaked video follows Skrillex and Balvin on a night of debauchery, drinking and dancing before ending up at a rowdy house party. The visual also features two superstars of the TikTok age: Khaby Lame, a Senegalese-Ital...

Watch the Teaser for Skrillex and J Balvin’s Hotly Anticipated Collab, “In Da Getto”

Skrillex has unveiled a teaser of “In Da Getto,” his hotly anticipated collaboration with global reggaeton superstar J Balvin. The collab was initially leaked by hoverboard engineer Hunter Kowald, who recently went viral after casually gliding through Times Square on his own “SkySurfer” board. The new teaser features a familiar face—at least for the TikTok age. Skrillex and J Balvin have been working with viral TikTok creator Khaby Lame, a Senegalese-Italian social media star best known for debunking and poking fun at useless life hacks shared by influencers. The audio in the clip doesn’t offer much, but fans are able to hear tinctures of a club-driven, electronic-Latin fusion track. If the teaser is any indication, a music video is on the way and could be unv...

Skrillex, Starrah and Four Tet Drop Eerie “Butterflies” Music Video: Watch

Skrillex, Starrah and Four Tet have unveiled the official music video for their collaborative hit “Butterflies.” The eerie video follows a group of friends as they gyrate through glittering city streets, tailed by ghostly figures. It’s a stark contrast to the video for “Too Bizarre” (with Swae Lee and Siiickbrain), which depicted a carefree, no-holds-barred basement punk party. “Butterflies” was Skrillex’s first official release since 2019. It effectively blew the lid off the hype surrounding his sophomore album, which fans have been clamoring for since he announced a wrap on production of a new body of work in March 2020. He’s remained tight-lipped ever since, however. Check out the official “Butterflies” music video b...

Viral Times Square Hoverboarder Reveals New Skrillex and J Balvin Collaboration

It looks like Skrillex‘s next big collaboration has leaked from an incredibly unlikely source. Hoverboard engineer Hunter Kowald recently shared a video of himself casually flying through Times Square on his own board—dubbed the “SkySurfer”—before the clip went viral. In his initial Instagram post, Kowald inadvertently revealed a new collab between Skrillex and chart-topping reggaeton artist J Balvin. While the video itself neither confirms nor denies any rumors, its caption has the looks of a smoking gun. “In NYC for a @jbalvin and @skrillex music video,” the post reads. Due to the nature of the tease, we’re unable to confirm any other details about the music video or song in question. But it’s safe to say that if Kowald is involved...

Skrillex Takes to TikTok to Tease His Next Potential Release

When it rains it pours, as they say, and despite the fact that Skrillex just dropped music late last week, he already seems to be preparing fans for what’s next.  Teasing a new song titled “Real Drag” on TikTok, Skrillex continues to show he’s in a perennial state of sonic exploration. After he hit fans with the ominous “Supersonic” and then “The Day You Left,” a string-driven track by Poo Bear on which Skrillex received a production credit, the legendary producer is now signaling his next work could be within the stylistic vein of house music.  Fans of Skrillex’s “Chicken Soup” collaboration alongside Habstrakt, or “AGEN WIDA” alongside JOYRYDE will likely find a lot to be excited about in this new tea...

I Played the Extremely NSFW “Sonny Moore Dating Simulator” Game

This is an opinion column. The thoughts and viewpoints expressed are those of the author, Phil Scilippa. Before I begin, please read the trigger warning below. Although the tweet may seem like a joke, it isn’t. If you’re uncomfortable reading about fictitious scenarios rooted in the situations below, which involve a number of influential electronic producers and DJs, I encourage you to stop right here. Now we can proceed. The unsettling trigger warning above is, of course, in reference to the Twitter account’s name, “Sonny Moore Dating Simulator.” Yes—it’s a real visual novel game—and I played it this week. The Sonny Moore Dating Simulator comes courtesy of indie developer (hobbyist?) Skrillexdere Dev, a tongue-in-cheek combination of the world...

Skrillex and Poo Bear Reunite for Stunning Single, “The Day You Left”: Listen

Reunited and it feels so good. Skrillex and Poo Bear, who famously linked up in summer 2017 for their collaborative hit “Would You Ever,” have reunited for a stunning new song called “The Day You Left.” The single finds Poo Bear leading the charge with Skrillex on the production. “The Day You Left” is a melancholic slice of future R&B from the two longtime collaborators and friends. With hypnotic vocal chops that flutter over a resounding low end, the track sounds like a more tame twist on Skrillex’s “Mumbai Power,” his summer 2019 festival hit released alongside Beam. Listen to the new track below. “Would You Ever” went on to become an international hit after its release in July 2017. Skrillex and Poo Bear also wor...

Skrillex Just Leaked His Own Song on Reddit—Listen to “Supersonic (My Existence)”

Fans of Skrillex are geeking out after the dubstep legend leaked a new song on Reddit. Fans were able to listen to “Supersonic (My Existence)” before it officially appeared on streaming platforms thanks to a serendipitous leak by Skrillex himself on the popular r/skrillex subreddit. Prior to its unveiling, the track—a collab with josh pan, Dylan Brady of 100 gecs, and fabled electronic group Noisia—had endured as one of the most anticipated unreleased cuts of the Skrillex mythos. Back in 2019 Noisia appeared at New Zealand’s Northern Bass festival, where they debuted the song before low-quality audio rips began to circulate on the web. At the time it was known simply as “Supersonic” and functioned as a remix of pan and Brady’s song of the same name, whic...

Reunited and it feels so good. Skrillex and Poo Bear, who famously linked up in summer 2017 for their collaborative hit “Would You Ever,” have reunited for a new song called “The Day You Left.” It’ll be a Poo Bear single with Skrillex on the production. Poo Bear took to social media to share a preview of “The Day You Left,” which is due out this Friday, June 11th. If the short audio clip is any indication, fans can expect a sultry electronic-R&B hybrid cut. With hypnotic vocal chops that flutter over a resounding low end, the track sounds like a more tame twist on Skrillex’s “Mumbai Power,” his summer 2019 festival hit released alongside Beam. Check out the preview of “The Day You Left” bel...

Renowned Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter NJOMZA has dropped the curtain on a new single called “over and done,” revealing in tandem a brand new summer 2021 EP on the horizon. An unapologetic pop banger, “over and done” flaunts not only an angsty music video, but also a formidable roster of writers and producers. Skrillex is credited as a producer on the LIMBO cut, which also lists esteemed EarthGang member Olu and ASCAP Award-winning record producer Tommy Brown as collaborators, among others. Check out the official music video below, directed by Griffin Olis and NJOMZA herself. Fans of Skrillex may remember NJOMZA for her scintillating performance on “Pretty Bye Bye,” a 2016 sleeper hit produced in collaboration with Team EZY....
