Bruce Lee Band, the ska project from Mike Park and Jeff Rosenstock, return today with their first new single of the year. “Did You Find the Money Farm?,” their collaboration with Fishbone’s Angelo Moore, arrives with a comical accompanying music video. Operation Ivy’s Jesse Michaels and Tim Armstrong Reunite to Perform “Sound System”
For only the second time since Operation Ivy’s disbandment in 1989, frontman Jesse Michaels and guitarist Tim Armstrong performed music together live on stage. On Saturday night, Michaels made a surprise appearance at Los Angeles’ Musack Rock and Roll Carnival, where he joined Armstrong’s band The Interrupters for a performance of Op Ivy’s “Sound System.” Michaels previously shared the stage with Armstrong and fellow Op Ivy bandmate Matt Freeman during a Rancid concert in 2006, where the trio reunited to play “Unity” and “Sound System.” During a podcast appearance last month, Michaels said he “wouldn’t object to” a full-fledged Operation Ivy reunion, but added that “I don’t know if it could happen for various practical reasons.” Advertisement Related Video “We have gotten offers, other peo...

R.I.P. Everett Morton, Drummer of UK Ska Band The Beat Dead at 71
Everett Morton, co-founding member and drummer of influential UK ska band The Beat, has died at the age of 71. “It is with great sadness that we have to announce the passing of Everett Morton, a beautiful and talented man,” The Beat’s official Twitter account wrote in a tweet posted on Saturday. “His family are naturally grieving. Please respect their privacy. RIP Gaffah.” A cause of death was not disclosed. Originally from the West Indies, Morton emigrated to the Birmingham, UK, and in 1978 formed The Beat alongside vocalist Dave Wakeling, guitarist, Andy Cox, and bassist David Steele. Soon after, the band’s lineup was rounded out with the additions of vocalist/toaster Ranking Roger and saxophonist Saxa. Jeff Rosenstock Announces 2021 North American Tour Dates
Jeff Rosentock has put out a ton of music since the pandemic began, and now, he’ll finally get to play some of it on tour. The punk icon is headed on the “No Dream Tour” in late 2021 to promote his fantastic surprise album from last year, NO DREAM. The 23-date run will see Rosenstock hit major cities in the US and Canada starting in mid-November, with Oceanator and Slaughter Beach, Dog supporting. In addition, Rosenstock and company will also perform two “Ska Dream Nights,” where he’ll rip through tracks off SKA DREAM, his ska reimagination of NO DREAM.
