Sigur Rós have announced the first stretch of dates for an extensive world tour taking place in Mexico, Canada and the United States this Spring and Summer. This tour will be the band’s first in five years, an exciting announcement for fans of the group’s acclaimed 25-year discography. Tickets for U.S. and Canada dates will go on sale at 10 A.M. on February 25th here. Tickets for the Mexico tour will go on sale at 11 A.M. on February 26th. More dates will follow soon. Since forming 18 years ago, fans have hoped that Sigur Rós would release Odin’s Raven Magic. And today, their wish has been granted. Featuring the Schola Cantorum of Reykjavik and L’Orchestre des Laureats du Conservatoire national de Paris, the Icelandic outfit’s orchestral body of work will be out on Dec. 4 on Krunk via Warner Classics. Reykjavik Arts Festival commissioned the creation of Odin’s Raven Magi in 2002, and it brought the band, Icelandic musical hero Hilmar Örn Hilmarsson and Steindór Andersen, who’s a fisherman and one of the county’s well-respected chanters, together for the project. “Hrafnagaldur Óðins has lots of interpretation and implications that fire up the imagination… It’s a very visual poem, with images all about falling down, and a world freezing from north to sout...
Get ready for a visual explosion. And that’s all thanks to Jónsi. Jónsi Birgisson, also known for being the frontman in Sigur Rós, returns with a new video for his single, “Swill.” Directed by Barnaby Roper, the clip opens with his head in focus with hands all over it. The video then moves into a series of other visuals that range from digital illustrations of florals growing on bodies by Pandagunda to clips of people with really long hair whipping it around. There’s definitely a lot going on. “Swill” follows the release of “Exhale,” which he dropped in April.
