Pollack and his partner Schuyler Hoversten charge a “small success fee” for their services that’s “variable based upon how much work is involved and how organized or not they are,” says Hoversten. It’s similar to how other consultants have helped small businesses apply for other government-sponsored COVID-19 aid programs like the Payroll Protection Program and the SBA’s restaurant grant program during the pandemic. And with the SVOG deadline approaching, they want to encourage businesses not to give up, even if the process seems complicated. “It’s so complex. It’s so convoluted,” Hoversten says. “They’re asking for a lot of information and I think if you’re not completely telling the sto...
The Shuttered Venue Operators Grant was passed in December and supplemental grants were worked into the bill language to provide additional funding for entertainment businesses that continued to suffer closures into 2021. More than six months after the bill was passed, following failed launches and missed deadlines, venues are slowly receiving the much-needed initial round of funding, with just over $3 billion disbursed as of Monday. We’ll be very grateful when the money is distributed as Congress intended,” says National Independent Venue Association board member Audrey Fix Schaefer. “It’s been very hard to hold on, but even tougher to plan for reopening without the money to hire back staff, rent venues and secure acts with deposits. It will be incredible when the $16 billion Congress earmarked to save our stages becomes a reality.” As of today, 11,500 SVOG applications have been sub...
Over 7,750 independent venues and talent organizations have successfully submitted applications for Shuttered Venue Operators Grants, according to the Small Business Administration. After one week of the grant’s application opening, 4,227 venues and promoters have applied for funding, as well as 1,135 talent representatives and 2,389 live performing arts organizations. The SBA stated they begin reviewing applications upon receipt and that those who qualify as SVOG Priority One applicants — entities that lost 90% or more of their income in 2020 — “will receive notice of awards this month and disbursement by the end of May if they respond in a timely manner to the notice of award.” You Deserve to Make Money Even When you are looking f...
