I talk about my love of chunky sandals often. The “uglier” the better, to be quite honest. Give me velcro straps, embellishments, and even a dash of leopard print—the louder the merrier is my mantra. As someone who became a teenager in the ’90s, casual sportswear was a big deal. Britpop stars such as Damon Albarn and Liam Gallagher were often spotted wearing Adidas zip-ups and T-shirts.
