I Always Wear These 2 Trainer Styles With Dresses

When you wear a dress, you make a decision that you want it to be the standout part of your whole look. It’s not an outfit, it’s a dress. For this reason, when discussing which trainers go with dresses, it’s all about finding the right sneakers that blend into the background. They want to look great too, of course, but they can’t take centre stage—that is reserved for your dress.  As someone who has had a long love affair with sneakers, and has recently built up their dress collection, I’ve come to the conclusion that there are two main trainer styles that work with every dress in your wardrobe. It sounds like a small selection, but hear me out: You only need a couple of styles of sneakers that’ll look really great with your dresses. No need to endl...

3 Pairs of Spring Shoes Our Editors Swear Are as Comfy as Trainers

There’s no doubt that over the last year, many of us have spent more time walking than ever before. With nowhere to go and no one to see, the daily lap around the block or local park became an outing to look forward to and often the only opportunity we’d have to socialise. While this newfound obsession with getting in our 10,000 steps or adding to our kilometre count on Strava has of course been beneficial from a health perspective, it has also meant that we’ve spent much of the year in sneakers, and quite frankly, I’m ready for a change.  Therefore, Team Who What Wear set out to find some spring shoes that could work as an alternative to trainers, keeping in mind that many of our outings now include a commute on foot. Each editor selected a ...

French Women Always Seem to Wear These Classic Sneakers

Regardless of your stance on the years-long French-girl style obsession, you have to admit that they have plenty of easy outfit ideas up their chic sleeves. In opposition to the stereotypes in which French women only wear ballet flats and espadrilles, many of these easy outfits involve sneakers. We’ve published dozens of stories about French-girl outfits over the years, so you probably know the drill there, but perhaps you’re curious about their sneaker-buying habits since they’ve become such a staple shoe style in their wardrobes. Accordingly, we scrolled through hundreds of chic French-girl outfits and kept seeing eight specific sneakers on the streets of Paris and beyond. As expected, most of them veer classic, but there are a few trendy surprises in the mix,...

5 Stylish Outfits That Were Made to Be Worn With Ballet Pumps

Dainty ballet flats may have been the height of Kate Moss–cool back in the mid-noughties (think drainpipe jeans, military jackets and skinny scarves), but over the intervening decade, they developed a reputation for being the black sheep of the flat-shoe family. Cheap iterations were not only sweaty and blister-inducing, but they also looked pretty unsavoury after a few Friday night outings (remember those?) Yet it cannot be denied that this famed Parisian style remains a timeless wardrobe staple thanks to the sellout success of Chanel‘s iconic quilted iterations (aka the original ballet flats). Yes, they’ve had a rough few years, but when worn correctly, they can be a real game-changer. And, if the feeds of our favourite fashion inf...

These Classic French Shoes Are Back in Fashion, and I’m Thrilled

I have this recurring dream where I’m twirling around the streets of Paris at twilight, wearing a tulle Dior dress and sporting a beret in the deepest shade of noir, all the while carrying a baguette in the crook of my arm. Of course, you can’t twirl effectively in spindly stilettos, so my footwear of choice is another French-girl staple: ballet flats. Naturally, I wake to discover I’m not in Paris, that the Dior dress was merely on subconscious loan and, to my dismay, there’s not a baguette ready to be devoured. However, much like Cinderella, I do have a pair of ballet flats that help me live out my Parisian fantasy in real life. You Deserve to Make Money Even When you are looking for Dates Online. Now That It’s Bare-Ankle Season, I Can’t Stop Thinking About These Sandals

It has just dawned on me that this week marks the first time this year that I’ve stepped out of the house in shoes without socks on. Granted, I was wearing loafers, but being able to leave the comfort of cosy central heating sans socks and not immediately freeze was (and remains) the most exciting thing to happen to me in a long while. The frivolity of bare ankles soon led me to start thinking about an upcoming purchase I’m planning on making. For the past couple of years—including 2020 if you’re choosing to observe it—chunky sandals have dominated. There are a couple of key styles we can pin this on: Chanel’s double-Velcro-strap quilted flats and The Row’s cult Ginza chunky flip-flops. Now, I’ve thought it through, and I’ve decided that chunk...

Fire destroys shops, property worth billions of naira at Katsina central market

Hundreds of shops were burnt to ashes following a fire outbreak at Katsina Central Market on Monday, newsmen report. The fire started at around 8 a.m., on Monday, from some shops located at the centre of the market, before it spread to other parts. The fire is still raging as at about 12:30pm, in spite of efforts of firemen to contain it. The inferno had destroyed property worth billions of Naira, mostly belonging to traders selling clothings, shoes, kitchen utensils, carpets, plastics among others. Some of the traders affected said they had no idea how the fire started, but added that they had lost everything in their shops to the fire. Alhaji Harisu Abdullahi, whose shop was among those destroyed, said it was difficult to ascertain the cause of the fire, and has left everything in the ha...

5 Flat Shoes That You Can Happily Walk 10K Steps A Day In

As a self-confessed flat aficionado, I have experienced zero feelings of sadness at the lack of stiletto action in my life over the last 12 months. In fact, being confined to the four walls of my home has meant that I have only developed a greater respect for all facets of the flat shoe: From the toe-warming comfort of my shearling slippers to the slip-on-and-go stylings of my embroidered mules. While some will be rocking their fave sky-scrapers the moment April 12th comes around, I’ll happily continue my life-long love affair with the flat, and I’m ok with it. So, what are the styles residing in the flat shoe hall of fame this year? The loafer is up there with the other power players, thanks to its timeless appea...

5 Shoes Fashion Girls Always Wear with Leather Outfits

I recently bought a faux leather skirt—a midi with a button-down front and a tie-waist—and was excited to wear it. I stood in front of the mirror, tried it on with my favourite jumper, and knew it was a winning combination. “I’ll wear this for my next walk with a friend,” I told myself as I admired my reflection. “Now, for shoes.” Assuming this would be an easy task, I encountered an unexpected stumbling block. Every shoe I tried on just didn’t seem to work. Granted, many of my shoes are made from black leather, the same texture and colour as the skirt, and they all felt too heavy. Particularly as we’re entering spring. So I decided to turn to some of my favourite influencers to see what they deem as the best shoes to wear with leather outfits. Scroll below to see the footwear choices they...

These 5 Pairs Of Shoes Will Go With Almost Every Dress You Own

The appeal of wearing a dress to many is that it requires very little thought when it comes to styling. It’s an all-in-one outfit that gives the illusion of effort, but in reality is often the easiest thing you can throw on in the morning. Hence why it has become the unofficial summer uniform for British women over the past few years. If, like me, you like to throw on an outfit in under five minutes then you won’t want to waste any time thinking about the shoes either. Whether you’re opting for a mini, midi or maxi, something fitted or with a tent-line silhouette, I have listed five shoes which will go with almost any dress this spring.  The next few months will largely comprise of walks, picnics and outdoor dining when restaurants reopen, and so all the footwear bel...
