Katsina governor declares no negotiations with bandits
Katsina State Governor Aminu Bello Masari has announced his decision to stop further dialogue with bandits in the state due to their lack of central leadership and structure. Sokoto border communities warned against aiding smuggling
Border communities in Sokoto State have been warned against aiding the smuggling of illicit items into the country. The Area Comptroller of Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Abdulhamid Ma’aji, gave the warning at Illela during a sensitisation meeting held Tuesday with youths and community leaders at Illela town, a border community in the northern state. The border post was among four major international borders announced for reopening by the Federal Government in late December 2020. Under constitutional rules, the government must resign within a week. The All Progressives Congress (APC) has raised the alarm over the arrest and assault of a party member, Engineer Abdul Ganiyu, by security officials in Okpella, Etsako East Local Government Area, over allegations leveled against him by the PDP.
