Tucking your jeans into your boots is not a new trend; this we know. However, it is a trend that’s been on ice for the last few years. In fact, it’s been lying largely dormant since the noughties, but now, thanks to a host of trend trailblazers, the combination is back and considered to be chicer than ever. While there are lots of items you could pair your jeans and knee-high boots with (think T-shirts, blazers, silk top), there’s one garment our fashion favourites keep wearing them with. Of course, we’re talking about jumpers. From classic roll-necks to statement motifs and block heels to stilettos, we’ve found seven street style–friendly outfits incorporating knee-high boots, jeans and jumpers for you to try. When you’re tired of wearing your jeans (and, let’s face it, your joggers) on loop, what should you wear? I can tell you that this has been a hot topic of discussion on the Who What Wear UK Slack channel this week, especially with the new season coming into view. There was talk of new colour trends, the pieces French women always reach for and the coat that always looks so expensive (no matter how much you’ve spent on it). But the one thing we all settled on as a great look that works for now and spring is the classic skirt-and-boot combo. Right now, the skirt needs to say “I’m ready for 2022,” but the footwear needs to say, “Do you realise that it’s still winter?” And trust us—the look is so eas...
Our love of dresses is well documented. From the frocks that flatter every shape to the high street’s hottest styles, we probably dedicate more article space to them than anything else. Why? Because they make life (read: getting ready in the morning) so much easier—just pop one on and go. With the plummeting temperatures, we’re turning our attention to jumper dresses. Once upon a time, they were shapeless and scruffy-looking, but autumn/winter 2021 has seen the off-duty staple receive a serious gloss-over. So it’s not a case of should we be wearing them but how should we be wearing them now? From timeless hues to versions that make your summer staples last even longer, we’re taking cues from these seven impeccably turned-out women on h...
It is now officially very cold, and so a reliable winter coat is an absolute essential. While a MaxMara or Totême coat will always be my dream purchase, I’ve been really impressed by some of the tailored wool coats that have been on offer on the high street recently. The key to an expensive-looking coat really is the silhouette. Think oversized, falling on the ankles and with plenty of room on the body so you can layer it over a chunky knit. There are four high-street coats in particular that really stand out right now and all have this structure in either ecru, grey or navy. My favourite is a stone-coloured overcoat from & Other Stories, closely followed by a black-and-white chevron-print coat from Zara. If you’re still on the great coat hunt, keep scrolling to see ...
Whether you have a penchant for pointed knee-highs or a crush on classic Chelseas, it’s fair to say there’s more than enough to choose from when it comes to winter boots. While there will always be those time-tested designer labels that we can rely on for sturdy shoes, the last five or so years have seen the high street up its winter-boot game, with the likes of & Other Stories and M&S becoming a fashion editor’s secret weapon. Well, this season is no different, and we have the evidence to prove it. To bring you the best of the best, I asked round my fellow editors to find out which brands they always turn to for winning winter boots. The results were as eclectic as you’d expect, covering high-end offerings such as Paris Texas and Aeydē ...

It’s almost that time of year again when a scroll through your diary makes you look like a professional partygoer. A pub lunch here, a festive cocktail there, a couple of work parties, and before you know it, you’re all booked up. We’re not complaining, though, especially when 2020 was such a flop in terms of festivities, to put it mildly. The Christmas party season really is the best excuse to go all out when it comes to dressing up. Sparkly earrings and platform sandals? Sure. Metallic gold boots for lunch? Why the hell not? “Hate” is a strong word, which is why I never use it lightly. In fact, there are only two instances in which I can say it with conviction. One is regarding bananas. (I’ll never understand how anyone can eat them.) The other? Being cold. I hate being cold. However, one thing I do like is dressing for the cold. Curating an outfit for sub-zero conditions is often regarded as one of the biggest fashion dilemmas going. But with a bit of advice from yours truly, you can take on the elements with all the knack of a pro snowboarder but with all the sartorial prowess of a pro street styler. Be it a cable-knit, a roll-neck or one of Zara’s latest hits, jumpers are a winter-style given. Keep scrolling to see the unexpected but also the best cold-weather clothing...
