Melissa Barrera, who played Sam Carpenter in the recent "Scream" movies, has been dropped from the latest film with the company citing her social media posts about the Israel-Hamas war as the reason.

HipHopWired Featured Video Source: Roy Rochlin / Getty The Ghostface Killer is back but instead of causing a ruckus in the burbs of the West Coast, he’s terrorizing New Yorkers instead (he probably got a Death Row pendant under his costume). A month after we got our first teaser trailer for Scream VI, fans of the cult classic franchise have not gotten the first full official trailer for the slasher film and truth be told, it looks pretty damn good. Taking place after the events of Scream 5 in which the surviving “teens” move to New York to escape the bloody memories left in Woodsboro, California, Sam Carpenter (Melissa Barrera), Mindy Meeks-Martin (Jasmin Savoy Brown), Chad Meeks-Martin (Mason Gooding) and Tara Carpenter (Jenna Ortega) find themselves being hunted by the latest nut to take...
HipHopWired Featured Video Source: Paramount / Paramount Pictures With the surprising success of 2022’s Scream V, it was inevitable that Paramount Pictures would ultimately add another installment into the franchise but instead of waiting a decade in-between releases, they’re striking while the iron is hot. Earlier today we got our first look at the upcoming Scream VI and it looks like the Ghostface killer (not to be confused with the beloved Ghostface Killah) will be leaving the burbs and taking his talents to the big city, New York to terrorize the surviving victims of Scream V, Melissa Barrera, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Jenna Ortega and Mason Gooding. Before Jenna Ortega starred as the unflappable Wednesday Addams, she survived Ghostface in the Scream “requel.” She’s set to reprise her role as Tara Carpenter in Scream 6, and judging by the teaser trailer, moving to New York City wasn’t enough to start a fresh chapter. The slasher flick naturally takes place on Halloween, when Tara is on the subway with her friends and half-sister Sara (Melissa Barrera). As a Ghostface mask-wearing figure approaches, the lights go out, and so the action begins. Watch the full Scream 6 teaser trailer and see the movie poster below. Though Scream veteran Courteney Cox is returning as Gale Weathers for the latest installment, Neve Campbell won’t be appearing in Scream 6. Earlier this month, a video went viral of a Mississippi daycare worker scaring kids in a classroom while wearing what appears to be a mask of Ghostface, the knife-wielding villain from the Scream film franchise. Now, after all being fired from the daycare, five former employees are facing child abuse charges for the incident. WTVA reports that Sierra McCandless, Oci-Anna Kilburn, Jennifer Newman, and Shyenne Shelton each face three counts of felony child abuse, and Traci Hutson faces failure to report abuse and simple assault against a minor, both misdemeanors. The charges follow investigations by the Mississippi State Department of Health and the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office. In the viral clip, which you can watch here, an unidentified daycare worker is seen wearing the Ghostface mask w...
Looks like ultimate final girl Neve Campbell is making Scream 5 her final turn as Sidney Prescott — at least for now. The veteran actress will not be returning for Scream 6. “Sadly I won’t be making the next Scream film,” Campbell announced on Monday (via Deadline). “As a woman I have had to work extremely hard in my career to establish my value, especially when it comes to Scream. I felt the offer that was presented to me did not equate to the value I have brought to the franchise.” Campbell continued: “It’s been a very difficult decision to move on. To all my Scream fans, I love you. You’ve always been so incredibly supportive to me. I’m forever grateful to you and to what this franchise has given me over the past 25 years.” Advertisement Campbell’s Sidney has anchored th...
Ghostface is officially coming back to Woodsboro. Today, Paramount and Spyglass announced that a sixth movie in the Scream franchise has been greenlit. The news comes as little surprise, given the success of last month’s Scream, which brought the return of original stars Neve Campbell, Courtney Cox, and David Arquette alongside a new set of Gen Z slasher victims. As the first film in Wes Craven’s genre-defining horror series since 2011’s Scream 4, the fifth movie briefly dethroned Spider-Man: No Way Home for a single weekend as the top movie in the box office upon its January 14th release. While there’s no word yet on whether Sidney Prescott and her pals will return for the upcoming sequel — or any other casting, for that matter — Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett will be back as dir...
