R.I.P. Dustin Diamond, Saved by the Bell’s “Screech” Dead at 44

Dustin Diamond, the actor who famously played Screech on Saved by the Bell, has died at the age of 44. Last month, Diamond was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer. TMZ reports that he passed away early Monday (February 1st). Born January 7th, 1977, Diamond said goodbye to a normal childhood at the age of 11, when he appeared in the first non-pilot episode of the Disney Channel original series Good Morning, Miss Bliss. That show transferred to NBC in 1989, in the process moving from John F. Kennedy Junior High to Bayside High School and acquiring the new name Saved by the Bell. Diamond played the role of Samuel “Screech” Powers throughout the show’s initial run (1989-93), plus the TV movie Saved by the Bell: Hawaiian Style (1992), the sequel series The College Years (1993-94), the two-h...

Source: Noel Vasquez / Getty It’s not alright when it comes to the health of Saved By The Bell star Dustin Diamond. Deadline reports Diamond was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer after checking himself into a Florida hospital this weekend, experiencing pain throughout his body due to shingles and “general unease.” Diamond, who is best known for his role as Screech, the lovable geek of Bayside High in the 90s NBC sitcom Saved By The Bell, is now undergoing chemotherapy in hopes to defeat cancer. A rep for the actor said it “has spread (metastasized) and is in different parts of his body,” Yahoo reports and that the actor noticed  “a huge lump on his throat.” Diamond’s acting career has been a forgettable one following Saved By The Bell’s end in 2000. He would go on to act in a bunch of low...

A representative for Diamond told TMZ that the actor “has cancer throughout his body [and] he’s currently receiving his first round of chemotherapy.” The exact type of cancer was not disclosed. Diamond played the role of Samuel “Screech” Powers on Saved by the Bell throughout the show’s entire seven season run. He later reprised the character in the sequel series Saved by the Bell: The College Years. In the mid-2000s, Dustin infamously starred in a sex tape — though he later claimed to have used a “stunt double.”; became a reality TV personality; and published an unflattering portrait of his years on Saved by the Bell. The book, in particular, caused a riff between him and the rest of the show’s cast — and...

In addition to their public apology, the team behind the new Saved by the Bell said they have been in touch with Gomez’s representatives and plan to make a donation to The Selena Gomez Fund for Lupus Research at USC. In the sixth episode of the reboot, which premiered last week, two students at Bayside High argue over who donated a kidney to Gomez in 2017 after she had been diagnosed with lupus years earlier. “I know for a fact that Selena Gomez’s kidney donor was Justin Bieber‘s mom. God, I wish that I had my phone so that I could prove it,” one character says. The other student replies, “Prove what? That you’re an idiot? It was Demi Lovato‘s kidney. They’re best friends, like you and I were.” In a later scene, the words “Does Selena Gomez even have a kidney?”...
