Anambra State Commissioner of Police, Mr John Abang, has ordered the arrest of illegal task force teams claiming to be enforcing COVID-19 measures including wearing of face masks in the state. The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control has ruled out elderly patients and those with severe symptoms from home care treatment for COVID-19. Since Nigeria recorded its first case of the virus in February 2020, government has been managing those who tested positive in designated isolation/treatment centres in order to prevent them from infecting others. With the increasing confirmed cases stretching the bed spaces available in the centres, the government decided that some patients can be treated at home. Mr Wole Oyebamiji, Secretary to Osun State Government (SSG), who was earlier tested positive to Coronavirus, has recovered from the virus. Dr Rafiu Isamotu, the state Commissioner for Health, said in a statement in Osogbo on Saturday that the SSG and 21 other patients had also tested negative to the virus. Newsmen report that the state commissioner for health had on July 1 announced that the SSG and some of his staff had tested positive to the virus. The commissioner said that the test conducted on the SSG on Friday after days of treatment returned negative. A former Secretary to Enugu State Government and former Rector Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), Kaduna Prof Samson Ukpabi is dead. Until his death he was the traditional ruler of Okpanku community in Aninri Local Government Area of Enugu state. The revered traditional ruler who was one of the leading figures in the state died on Sunday morning. He died at the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital, Enugu after a brief illness. Sources close to the family said that Ukpabi spoke with his family members at about 6:15 am on Sunday before he left for the hospital where he died. Gunmen, believed to be either Boko Haram or ISWAP, on Saturday, attacked three communities in Borno State, killing five herdsmen and stealing 480 cows, a government official has said. Sources said the insurgents, who were all armed with assault rifles, attacked three villages – Moduri, Kelewa and Ngudori in Magumeri Local Government Area around 6.30 pm on Saturday. Magumeri is one of the local government areas that share conventional boundaries with Gubio and Monguno where ISWAP staged coordinated repeated attacks that claimed the lives of over 120 persons.
