HipHopWired Featured Video Source: NBC / Getty On Saturday (Oct. 9), Kim Kardashian held down the hosting duties on Saturday Night Live. We gotta keep it a buck, that’s about as far as our interest goes. [embedded content] For the sake of archival purposes, the New York Post did report on Yeezy’s ex-wife’s performances, because of course they did. Kim Kardashian came out hot — in hot pink — for her “Saturday Night Live” hosting debut, boldly cracking jokes about how she’s “a Kim — not a Karen,” referencing her infamous sex tape and declaring that her “first black person” was OJ Simpson. But first, clad in an eye-scorching head-to-toe bodysuit, the 40-year-old superstar admitted: “I’m surprised to see me here, too. I haven’t had a movie premiere in a really long time. I mean actually I only...
This past weekend, Kacey Musgraves served as the musical guest for Saturday Night Live’s Season 47 premiere. For her first performance of the evening, she played “justified” armed with an acoustic guitar and nothing else. It turns out she wasn’t just faking being nude, as many actors do to abide by FCC regulations, but rather she was completely naked and strategically positioned her body to get away with it — making her the first artist to ever do so on SNL. First of all, it’s important to clarify that Musgraves wasn’t ditching her outfit for no reason to promote Star-Crossed. While she was fully clothed for her rendition of “camera roll” on SNL, she opted to strip down for “justified” as a reference to the infamous Forrest Gump scene in which Jenny (played by Robin Wright) takes the stage...
This past summer felt like a tumultuous one for Saturday Night Live, despite (or possibly because of) its usual between-season silence about major changes to the show—broken, as per tradition, shortly before the start of a new season. Season 46 ended with what felt like possible sendoffs for several long-tenured members of a record-sized cast—and then word flew around over the summer that SNL impresario Lorne Michaels was trying to convince some veteran players to stick around for not just the next season, but several more after that, dangling a more flexible work schedule in front of familiar faces like Kate McKinnon, Aidy Bryant, and Cecily Strong. The Michaels Plan seems to have been put into motion with Season 47: McKinnon, Bryant, and Strong are all back, at least according to the ope...
Later during the Owen Wilson-hosted episode of SNL, Musgraves wore a yellow plaid shirt with blue jeans for the bittersweet “Camera Roll,” one of her new album’s more literal songs about the memories associated with looking back on past photos in your cell phone. “I don’t wanna see ’em/ But I can’t delete ’em/ It just doesn’t feel right yet,” she emotionally sang. Musgraves’ fifth studio effort, star-crossed, dropped on Sept. 10 and launched at No. 1 on Billboard‘s Top Country Albums and Top Album Sales charts. The singer made her SNL debut in 2018 around the release of her highly acclaimed release Golden Hour. Kim Kardashian will host the following weekend of SNL on Oct. 9, accompanied by musical guest Halsey, who performed ...
“I Believe I Can Fly,” which was featured on the soundtrack to the 1996 film Space Jam, reached No. 2 on the Hot 100 for four weeks and won Kelly three Grammy Awards, including best R&B song. The confused priest overseeing the service, played by host Owen Wilson, then chimes to clarify that the dead woman specifically wanted “Fly” performed during her funeral. “But R. Kelly is a horrible man who did awful things,” another mourner says, as the other guests agree that perhaps the lady didn’t know about the 54-year-old singer’s crimes. Thompson’s Burton, dressed in a sequin and large glasses, then continues singing as photos of the deceased woman posing with other celebrities accused of wrongdoing, including Louis C.K., Kevin Spacey an...
Kacey Musgraves helped kick off Saturday Night Live’s 47th season with a performance referencing the infamous Forest Gump scene in which Jenny takes the stage in the nude. The Nashville singer-songwriter performed “justified” with only a large acoustic guitar and boots visible to the camera. Many fans were quick to point out the similarities to Robin Wright’s portrayal of Jenny Gump in Robert Zemeckis’ 1994 blockbuster. Musgraves seemingly confirmed the inspiration in a tweet posted following the performance. Musgraves’ SNL appearance came in support of her latest album, Star-Crossed, and also featured a performance the song “camera roll.” Replay both performances below. Plenty of familiar faces will greet viewers when Season 47 of Saturday Night Live bows on October 2nd. Nearly the full ensemble is returning, and two featured players have been upgraded to series regulars: Bowen Yang, who has been on the writing staff since 2018; and Chloe Fineman, who joined last year. At the same time, two actors will be ending their runs on the venerable sketch program: Lauren Holt, who is leaving the show after one season; and Beck Bennett, whose eight-season run in New York comes to an end as his career in Los Angeles continues to tick upwards. Bennett is currently a series regular on the stop-motion Marvel series M.O.D.O.K., and he said goodbye in an emotional Instagram post. “Love you, SNL,” he wrote. “Gonna miss you so much. Thank you for 8 years&nbs...
HipHopWired Featured Video Source: ANGELA WEISS / Getty The first hosts and musical guests of the new season, its 47th, of Saturday Night Live have been announced, and at least one person in the former group will raise eyebrows. Kanye West’s ex-wife Kim Kardashian has been tapped to host SNL. We gotta say it—Who asked for this? Who suggested it? Besides Kardashian, the hosts, announced by the usual tweet of an image of dates and names on Post-Its is a murderer’s row of actors. Owen Wilson will hold down the season premiere on October 2, followed by Kardashian the next week and then Rami Malek and Jason Sudeikis on October 16 and October 23, respectively. For Hip-Hop heads, mark your calendars for October 16 when Atlanta rapper Young Thug will be the musical guest. The other acts slated for...
Saturday Night Live is back for Season 47 and its music lineup features a slew of heavy hitters. The first four music guests are Kacey Musgraves, Halsey, Young Thug, and Halsey. This will be Carlile and Young Thug’s first time performing on the show, while Musgraves is returning for a second time and Halsey is back for her fourth appearance with the most recent on Season 45. Hosting will be Owen Wilson, Rami Malek, former SNL castmember and Ted Lasso star Jason Sudeikis and … Kim Kardashian. This will be Kardashian’s first time hosting SNL. Hopefully (for her sake) it goes better than it did for Elon Musk earlier this year. Here’s the full lineup and dates: Oct. 2 – Owen Wilson / Kacey MusgravesOct. 9 – Kim Kardashian West / HalseyOct. 16 – Rami Malek / Young ThugO...
Saturday Night Live will return for its 47th season starting October 2nd, and the initial four hosts include a beloved SNL alum, an Academy Award winner, a Wedding Crasher, and a… Kardashian. Owen Wilson has been parodied on SNL plenty of times, but the Wedding Crashers and Loki star will finally get his chance to host on October 2nd. He’ll be followed on October 9th by Kim Kardashian West, professional famous person and “goth girl” mom. Then on October 9th, Oscar winner Rami Malek will probably get a chance to show off some of his moves from Bohemian Rhapsody, and October 16th will see the Emmy’s most Outstanding Actor, Jason Sudeikis, returning to the set that made him a star. Sudeikis’ return will be especially sweet. He was a regular cast member from 2005 to 2013, a...
Horatio Sanz is facing allegations in a new lawsuit that he once groomed an underage fan and sexually assaulted her during a Saturday Night Live afterparty. According to a report by TMZ, the unnamed plaintiff is accusing the comedian of not only groping her during the May 2002 party, but also digitally penetrating her while in the presence of numerous NBC employees. At the time, the woman was just 17 years old. The court filing goes on to allege that Sanz — who was featured on the late night sketch series from 1998 to 2006 — first met the anonymous plaintiff two years earlier when she ran an SNL fan site at 15. From there, the suit claims the Chilean-American actor began grooming the young Jane Doe, leading online conversations to sex and and being overly affectionate in person despite bei...
