Sourced from Tapscape African value-added distributor Networks Unlimited has announced a partnership agreement with Netskope, a US-based cloud, data and network security provider, and a leader in the application of the Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) and Cloud Access Security Brokerage (CASB), also known as Cloud Security Gateway. Introducing the DPU from NVIDIA – Is It Time to Embrace Your FOMO?

Is it still true that death and taxes are the only two certainties in life? What about the rise and rise of new acronyms in the IT world? From ADSL to ZIP files, meandering through CAPTCHA, HTML, SASE, SD-WAN and URL, to name just a few, you might be forgiven for suffering eventually from FOMO or else even planning to go AWOL. But please don’t hit the MIA button until we’ve had a chance to chat about DPUs and their relatively recent arrival in the CPU and GPU family. Belinda Duke, Product Manager: NVIDIA Networking at Networks Unlimited, explains, “Certainly it’s true that the information technology field uses a lot of acronyms, but joking aside, there is another acronym in town – we think it’s very exciting to start working with the DPU, or ‘data processing unit’, which, according to NVID...

Silver Peak SD-WAN Capabilities Facilitate your SASE Journey

There are many acronyms in the world of IT, and SASE – the Secure Access Service Edge – is one of the latest that is gaining traction. It comes from a Gartner report published a year ago, and has been gathering strength ever since.  The report is entitled ‘The Future of Network Security is in the Cloud’, and in it, the global research and advisory firm introduces the term to describe the need for the combination of wide-area network (WAN) transformation together with security transformation at the edge, to enable enterprises to realise all the benefits of moving applications and workloads to the cloud. This is according to a recent Silver Peak blog written by Derek Granath, Silver Peak VP of product marketing, who explains that SASE (pronounced ‘sassy’) involves a certain amount of ne...

Why SASE Should Extend Beyond Cloud

The emerging Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) model for cybersecurity, which is now gaining traction, needs to extend beyond cloud delivery to meet future needs. This is according to Patrick Grillo, Senior Director of Solutions Marketing at Fortinet, who was addressing the CNBC Africa Summit on The Future of Work. “SASE is a framework to bring together what are normally two distinct environments – network and security, so that connectivity and security options can be delivered from the cloud as a service. The principal connectivity option or networking feature is SD-WAN, which has been disrupting the industry for the past two to three years, a catalyst for SASE”, Grillo said. This emerging enterprise strategy combines network and security functions with WAN capabilities to support the dyn...
