HBO Shares New Teaser for The Weeknd’s Upcoming Drama Series The Idol: Watch

HBO has shared another teaser for The Idol, the upcoming series from Euphoria creator Sam Levinson and The Weeknd. The pop star also appears in the show as a self-help guru who pursues a relationship with a rising pop star, played by Lily-Rose Depp. While this preview doesn’t explain much in terms of the show’s plot, Euphoria fans will easily pick up on Levinson’s vivid, high-drama style (and the omnipresence of sex). In the clip, we see bits and pieces of Depp’s character’s lavish Hollywood lifestyle — namely a nightclub that appears to be a central aspect of the show’s plot. Perhaps even more exciting are some of the new cast members who are revealed in the trailer. Considering The Idol centers around a pop star, it’s not too surprising that a few real-...

A Remarkable Zendaya Anchors Euphoria Season 2: Review

The Pitch: HBO’s provocative teen drama returns on Sunday, January 9th, and while plenty of things have changed for the characters in this neon-soaked, nightmarish dreamscape of Southern California, so much is still the same. That’s the thing about addiction, isn’t it? It’s a cycle that’s very, very hard to break. But we as the audience are once again in the hands of young addict Rue as our omniscient narrator, who continues to be lovingly brought to life by Zendaya, the youngest person ever to win an Emmy for Best Actress for a Drama Series. Still Don’t Know Her Name: “I don’t think I’m a good person.” Repeated like a refrain, delivered like a prayer, this sentence is a concise summary of many of the central struggles in Season 2 of Euphoria. To that end, things pick up in fairly familiar...

Stay tuned here for more info as we hear about it. Though it’s been over a year since the W...

Zendaya and John David Washington Filmed a New Movie During Quarantine

While everyone was busy socially distancing and following quarantine rules, Zendaya and John David Washington were filming a new movie — and not from the comfort of their computer screens or private homes either. The movie is called Malcolm & Marie and it’s directed by Sam Levinson, the creator of Euphoria. The group shot scenes discreetly between June 17th and July 2nd at the Caterpillar House, an “an environmentally conscious glass architectural marvel” in Carmel, California, reports Deadline. What’s more, production on the film is apparently already completed. The idea first came from Zendaya, who called Levinson asking if he could write and direct a movie during quarantine. Within six days, he had a script ready to go and the hope of casting the Tenet star alongside her. The next b...
