Aaron Sorkin’s Star-Studded The Trial of the Chicago 7 Gets First Trailer: Watch

The Oscar hype is on for writer and director Aaron Sorkin’s star-studded historical drama The Trial of the Chicago 7. On Sunday night, Netflix dropped the film’s first teaser trailer ahead of its October 16th premiere on the network. The film captures the events surrounding the 1968 Democratic National Convention, which saw a peaceful protest dissolve into a violent clash between the police and the National Guard. This led to seven organizers — which included Abbie Hoffman, Jerry Rubin, Tom Hayden and Bobby Seale — being charged with conspiracy. Given the current political landscape — and the fact that this lands a few weeks before the 2020 Election — one might say The Trial of the Chicago 7 is a tad prescient, no? Whatever the case, it features the most incredible cast in recent memory, s...

Sacha Baron Cohen Secretly Filmed Borat 2: Report

Sacha Baron Cohen in Borat Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan (20th Century Fox) Sacha Baron Cohen has a brand new project in the works and it already sounds very nice. Last month, the actor/comedian was seen filming in his old Borat costume, the same getup he wore in his 2006 box office hit. According to a new exclusive report from Collider, it looks like Cohen has not only finished shooting Borat 2, but he’s begun screening the sequel for “a select few industry types.” Citing industry sources, Collider reports that the sequel follows Borat in the modern day where he believes he’s a successful movie star due to the success of Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan. Instead of reveling in the fame, ...

The 25 Most Anticipated Movies of Fall 2020

“New year, new decade, new films, right?” That was January, back when we were still looking ahead at 2020 with blind optimism and ill-fated excitement. Sigh, hindsight is 20/20 they say, right? Who knew. At the time, we had 50 exciting new titles we were anticipating, most of which have since been either postponed, dumped to VOD, or relegated to a limbo state. It’s been an unnerving year for the film industry, to say the least. A year fraught with shutdowns, furloughs, layoffs, bankruptcies, and re-evaluations. All of that change has prompted a seismic shift in how everything’s run across the media landscape, and no one truly has a grip on things just yet. Odds are they won’t for quite some time. Because of this, anticipating anything right now — let alone anything in pop culture — seems l...

Very Nice: Sacha Baron Cohen Seen Filming in Borat Costume

Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan (20th Century Fox) Dust off your outdated stereotypes, because Sacha Baron Cohen‘s most famous creation is back. The comedian and provocateur was recently spotted filming in California while wearing Borat Sagdiyev’s trademark mustache and grey suit. TikToker @alexandheir took the video while driving in Long Beach, CA on Sunday. Cohen sat behind the wheel of a rusty yellow truck, as a film rig towed him down the highway. The short clip takes in the camera crew and catches a frustrated Borat trying to take off his sport coat. The fictional Kazakh journalist first gained prominence as the breakout hit of Cohen’s Da Ali G Show (2000, 2003-04). Borat was certainly offensive to the people of Kazakhstan, but ...

Sacha Baron Cohen Infiltrates Far-Right Rally Pretending to Be Racist Country Singer

Sacha Baron Cohen is up to his old tricks. On Saturday, the Borat and Bruno actor crashed a far-right rally in Olympia, Washington, pretending to be a racist country singer who led a sing-along about injecting former president Barack Obama and Dr. Anthony Fauci with the “Wuhan Flu”. The event was organized by a far-right militia group called the Washington Three Percenters. It seems Cohen had reached out to event organizers about serving as the musical entertainment, going as far to offer to cover the costs of the stage and sound system. The Three Percenters took him up on his offer, setting the stage for one truly epic prank. Disguising himself in overalls and a fake beard, Cohen proceeded to sing a twangy country number about injecting liberals and scientists with the coronavirus. At var...
