Firms get N1 million fine for breaking sanitation law in Kano
The Kano State Environmental Mobile Court on Saturday ordered two factories to pay N1 million fine for violation of the monthly environmental sanitation exercise in the state. Newsmen report that the affected factories are GP Tank and JP Company. Chief Magistrate, Auwal Yusuf-Suleiman, gave the order during an inspection exercise at the Sharada Industrial Area in Kano metropolis. Yusuf-Suleiman said the factories were found guilty of operating within the stipulated hours of the sanitation exercise contrary to Sections 61 and 104 of the National Environmental Laws. He, therefore, ordered each of the factories to pay N500,000 fine. Kaduna civil servants below level 14 to work from home
The Kaduna state Government has directed civil servants below grade level 14 to work from home starting from Monday 21st December 2020 following increased infection rates of COVID-19 in the state. The state Governor, Malam Nasir El-Rufai tweeted on Sunday that the measure was part of the Covid-19 containment strategy announced last week by his administration. He appealed to all residents to see COVID-19 prevention as a personal responsibility. “It is mandatory to wear facemask outside the house, organizations and individuals that allow people into their premises have the responsibility to enforce the no mask, no entry mandate, facemask should be worn to cover the nose and mouth,” he said. The Kaduna State High Court sitting in Dogarawa, Sabon Gari, Zaria just now rules that Alhaji Ahmad Nuhu Bamalli is the 19th Emir of Zazzau. Justice Kabir Dabo, the presiding judge, also ruled that the Emir can be inaugurated on Monday, November 9, by the state governor, Nasir El-Rufai. Nigeria records lowest daily virus cases in three months
The Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC) has announced 221 new cases of Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic outbreak in the country. The NCDC made this known on its official twitter handle on Wednesday. Newsmen report that the 221 new cases was the lowest number of cases recorded in the country in about three months. It recalls that on Aug. 4, Nigeria reported 288 COVID-19 new cases and 290 one week later, while another low figure of 252 was recorded on Aug. 25. NCDC said that there were more persons who died of COVID-19 related complications in the country in the last 24 hours with the national death toll rising to 1,010. Kaduna denies report on abduction along Abuja-Kaduna Highway

Kano State Government on Sunday said no fewer than 1, 213 Almajiris have been evacuated to their state of origin. Alhaji Murtala Sule Garo, Chairman, Kano State Almajiri Evacuation Committee told newsmen in Kano that “due process and proper screening are the hallmark of the ongoing evacuation exercise.” Garo who is also the Commissioner for Local government revealed that the Committee worked with the state Ministry of Health to ensure that Almajiris taken out of Kano to their respective states of origin are in good health. Gombe discharges 20 coronavirus patients after testing negative
Gombe State has discharged 20 COVID-19 patients out of 109 cases in isolation centres across the state after they tested negative twice. Prof. Idris Mohammed the Chairman of the State Task Force on COVID-19, made the disclosure at a news briefing on Friday in Gombe.
