Crazy Frog is back in action after a 15-year hiatus with a mashup of the Run-DMC classic, “It’s Tricky.” The new version features Crazy Frog’s signature earworm vocals alongside the iconic lyrics of “It’s Tricky.” While it’s an entirely new release, the song functions as an electronic remix of the original. A music video has also been released alongside the mashup, featuring the blue amphibian himself. Directed by Sigfrid Söderberg and Andreas Wicklund, the video follows Crazy Frog as he escapes a legion of robots in a post-apocalyptic setting, where he eventually finds and hijacks a rocket. The 35 Greatest Concerts of the Last 35 Years

We know, we know — the best concert of all-time is your friend’s obscure indie-punk band playing a sweaty neighborhood basement back in ‘94. We admit that one slipped through the cracks.  Maybe it’s a fool’s errand, but this list is our attempt to narrow down three and a half decades of worthy live music events — legendary festivals, headlining tours from major artists, one-off stage collaborations, multimedia spectacles — into an eclectic and satisfying blend. – Ryan Reed 35. So it’s heartening that Heilung’s debut l...

So it’s my way of bringing it all back together again.” We recently spoke with Chuck D as part of our SPIN 35 cel...

Public Enemy Join Forces With Beastie Boys’ Ad Rock, Mike D and Run-DMC for ‘Public Enemy Number Won’ Video

Public Enemy’s first album with Def Jam in an eternity (OK fine, 20–plus years) is out now. Chuck D, Flavor Flav and company enlisted legends of the past and the stars of today for the recording. The group also leaned on their longtime pals for the release of their video for “Public Enemy Number Won.” Enlisting Beastie Boys’ Ad-Rock and Mike D and Run DMC, the video features vintage footage of the guys from Def Jam’s halcyon days. Check it out below. [embedded content] As usual, it wouldn’t be a Public Enemy clip without some political bent. “With less than a week to go before election day, we’re seeing record breaking early voting numbers across the country, and this effort is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to encourage voters to make their voices heard at their favorite sport...

The 25 Best Soundtrack Albums of the 1990s

In the 1980s, music and film collided for cross-promotional blockbusters both transcendent (Purple Rain) and transcendently cheesy (Footloose). In the ‘90s, soundtracks continued to sell in the millions, capturing cultural moments like the Seattle grunge of Singles or the Britpop and electronica of Trainspotting. Auteurs like Quentin Tarantino and Wes Anderson reached deep into their record collections to set the mood while movies like Above the Rim and Menace II Society pioneered the concept of soundtracks as hip-hop mixtapes. A great soundtrack can propel an unsuccessful single, like Seal’s “Kiss From A Rose,” to the top of the charts, or revive a decades-old hit, like Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody.” It can also push a cult singer-songwriter like Elliott Smith or Aimee Mann to an Oscar perf...

Feds Claim Jam Master Jay Was Murdered Over Drug Dealing Dispute

Source: Icon and Image / Getty After damn near 20 years, two men have finally been indicted in the murder of the late, great Jam Master Jay. However, the details surrounding the rap pioneer’s death are only opening old wounds instead of offering complete closure. According to the Feds, the motive behind the shooting and death of Run-DMC’s DJ, born Jason Mizell, was due to a drug dealing dispute. Per the prosecutors in the case, JMJ had been allegedly dealing cocaine for six years, and squeezing an old partner out of a deal is what lead to his death on October 30, 2002. Ronald “Tinard” Washington, 56, and Karl Jordan Jr., 36, were hit with murder charges for rushing into Jay’s Queens studio and gunning him down. Washington, long ago fingered as an accomplice, was already in prison for an un...
