Playboi Carti took the Audiomack stage around 9:15 p.m., and there was no chance the Atlanta rap superstar would let Cole show him up at a festival known for raging and mosh pits. By the time Carti pulled up in an all-black outfit to the sounds of “Stop Breathing,” the rain had begun to pour heavily, setting up the scene for one of the most wildest sets at Rolling Loud. Fans were taking off and throwing their clothes, jewelry and whatever else was on their body as King Vamp instructed them to go wild while he segued into “Rockstar Made,” “Teen X” and “JumpOutTheHouse.” Once Carti dove into his feature on Ye’s “Off the Grid,” the ground began to shake, causing festival-goers to let off all their pent-up energy. J. Cole and hi...
If the Day 1 theme of Rolling Loud New York 2021 was hometown rappers reigning supreme, the driving force on Friday (October 29th) was Mother Nature. Beginning as a crisp, overcast autumn day with winds strong enough to tip over garbage cans, it started drizzling around 7:30 p.m. before giving way to a full-blown rainstorm shortly after J. Cole took the main stage at 8:45. The Dreamville founder was unfazed by the weather, giving an all-time performance that those in attendance will never forget. Meanwhile, City Girls and Ski Mask the Slump God carried stage presences that demanded reciprocal energy from the crowd, Wale showed the breadth of his catalog after an unplanned set time switch, and Bas gave a sneak peek of his boss’ headlining set while playing his most popular cuts to a lo...
Lil Uzi Vert‘s performance at Miami’s Rolling Loud music festival back in May was almost his most costly performance ever. At the beginning of this year, the “XO Tour Llif3” rapper had a pink “10 almost 11 carat” diamond surgically embedded in his forehead. The diamond cost $24 million and he said that he had been paying for it since 2017. Vert reportedly had it implanted in his forehead because he was afraid he’d lose it otherwise. “I’ve been paying for a natural pink diamond from Elliot for years now,” he said in a January 2021 tweet. “This one Stone cost so much I’ve been paying for it since 2017. That was the first time I saw a real natural pink diamond.” Shortly after, he dove into the Rolling Loud f...
Since it became clear that Lollapalooza would be the first major multigenre U.S. festival since the start of the pandemic, promoters hoped it would kick off a shortened but vital festival season, with Bonnaroo, Governors Ball and Firefly scheduled to follow in September. But circumstances have changed as another wave of COVID-19 cases spreads — along with fears that festivals could become super-spreader events. In Chicago, one source tells Billboard that, as Lollapalooza approached, promoters grew nervous that public health officials would impose limits on the event’s capacity. Live Nation and rival AEG have already worked out a compromise with the major talent agencies in case other festivals are forced to cancel. If that happens 30 to 60 days before the event, the promoter only has to pa...
Local outlets have reported a large video screen at Miami’s Rolling Loud event collapsed Thursday evening, just one day before the three-day hip-hop festival’s kickoff. Lauren Pastrana of Miami’s CBS 4 shared aerial footage depicting the large screen on the ground. Not long after, Rolling Loud organizers shared a message acknowledging the collapse and ensuring fans that the show will go on as planned this weekend. They also announced that no one was injured in the accident. The news comes just days after reports started spreading that Kanye West will perform songs from his highly anticipated 10th studio album, Donda, at the festival this weekend. Gesaffelstein recently shared a preview of a song from the album that he produced titled “No Child Left Be...
A couple of weeks ago, Rolling Loud announced its California lineup for this December, which featured pretty much every rapper who’s released an album since the beginning of 2020. Now, the bicoastal festival announced its lineup and dates for the New York edition, which is also expanding to a three-day format. This October 28-30, headliners Travis Scott, J. Cole (who’s also headlining the California one), and 50 Cent will head to Citi Field along with a slew of other rappers including Bobby Shmurda, Ll Uzi Vert, Lil Baby, Gucci Mane, Kodak Black, Wale, Fetty Wap, Roddy Ricch, Playboi Carti, Rick Ross, Lil Yachty, Bfb Da Packman and a ton more. Many of the biggest names on the California lineup will be heading to New York as well, including SPIN cover story stars Jack Harlow and Rico Nasty....
<span class="localtime" data-ltformat="F j, Y | g:ia" data-lttime="2021-05-28T03:05:25+00:00“>May 27, 2021 | 11:05pm ET A month after announcing the lineup for its flagship Miami festival, Rolling Loud has unveiled the bill for its California edition. While most 2021 festivals have been forced to schedule atypical dates due to the pandemic, Rolling Loud Cali is still set for December — the 10th-12th, to be exact, marking an expansion from two days to three. Taking place at San Bernardino’s NOS Events Center, the 2021 fest will be headlined by Kid Cudi, Future, and (fresh off his career in the Basketball Africa League) J. Cole. Chris Brown and Young Thug are also billed as “special guests,” as the duo are set to perform their 2020 mixtape Slime &...
Well, Rolling Loud California isn’t messing around. Almost every rapper who released a song, feature or anything in the past 18 months is damn near on this bill. There’s the headliners: Kid Cudi, J. Cole and Future. There’s a special guest appearance by Chris Brown and Young Thug, who will be performing Slime & B. in full and that doesn’t begin to tell the full story of the mega lineup. Also appearing are Ty Dolla $ign, Gucci Mane, Wiz Khalifa, Kodak Black, Gunna, Swae Lee, Playboi Carti, Griselda, A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, Lil Yachty, Kodak Black, Curren$y, Drakeo the Ruler, Amine, Flo Milli, Action Bronson, Pooh Shiesty and SPIN cover stars Jack Harlow and Rico Nasty will be appearing as well. As for the event itself, it takes place on Dec. 10-12 at the N...
HipHopWired Featured Video Source: Steven Ferdman / Getty Tis’ the season for outdoor festivals, even if the nation is still battling a deadly pandemic. This week Rolling Loud announced the dates for their upcoming event along with a stellar lineup that’s sure to attract fans that miss live performances. Vulture reports that the three-day extravaganza takes place from Friday, July 23 to Sunday, July 25, in Miami Gardens, Florida’s Hard Rock Stadium. Surprisingly, the headliners are the same as last year’s canceled event due to strict quarantine restrictions from the coronavirus outbreak. A$AP Rocky, Travis Scott, and Post Malone will share the main headlining duties each day of the festival. Also set to perform are Megan Thee Stallion, Rick Ross, DaBaby, Young Thug, Lil Uzi Ver...
<span class="localtime" data-ltformat="F j, Y | g:ia" data-lttime="2021-04-20T03:18:46+00:00“>April 19, 2021 | 11:18pm ET Rolling Loud Miami has announced the lineup for its 2021 festival, and it’s a doozy. The three-day event will be headlined by ASAP Rocky, Travis Scott, and Post Malone, topping a lineup featuring well over 100 other rappers. Many of the names on the bill are similar to the fest’s ill-fated 2020 iteration, which was obviously cancelled due to the pandemic. However, there are plenty of noteworthy changes and additions that are worth straining your eyes for in the gigantic lineup poster. Beyond the headliners, just a handful of the major supporting acts are Lil Uzi Vert, Lil Baby, 21 Savage, Young Thug, Playboi Carti, DaBaby, ...
