This year’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony (that was supposed to take place in Cleveland) was first pushed, then pushed again before finally being moved to a virtual ceremony. It would have been a monumental event with this year’s inductees: Depeche Mode, the Doobie Brothers, Whitney Houston, Nine Inch Nails, Notorious B.I.G., T. Rex. A virtual ceremony — the next best thing to being there — will air on HBO on Nov. 7, and in it, a number of incredible special guests will pay tribute to this year’s inductees. Without further ado, here are the folks who will honor the above Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Class of 2020: Luke Bryan, Sean “Diddy” Combs, Miley Cyrus, Billy Gibbons, Dave Grohl, Don Henley, Jennifer Hudson, Billy Idol, Iggy Pop, Alicia Keys, Adam Levine, Chris...
When Nine Inch Nails were revealed as one of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame’s 2020 inductees, only Trent Reznor was to receive the honor. Now, a couple months prior to the ceremony, six additional members of NIN have been added to the list of inductees. While Reznor has been the band’s mastermind and lone constant member of the groundbreaking industrial group since its inception, there have been valuable players throughout the years. Perhaps with a nudge from Reznor himself, Atticus Ross, Robin Finck, Chris Vrenna, Danny Lohner, Ilan Rubin, and Alessandro Cortini have joined the list of NIN inductees. As Cleveland.com reports, an annual inductee exhibit that recently opened at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame museum revealed the new names under Nine Inch Nails’ bio. Those inductees have ...
Throughout this period of self-isolation, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has been keeping music fans at bay by uploading its vast archive to YouTube. A number of new videos have been made available in recent weeks, including footage from past induction ceremonies for Nirvana, Pink Floyd, RUSH, Bruce Springsteen, and Peter Gabriel. You can see the surviving members of Nirvana team up with St. Vincent to perform “Lithium”; Pink Floyd’s David Gilmour and Richard Wright joined by Smashing Pumpkins’ Billy Corgan for “Wish You Were Here”; RUSH performing “Tom Sawyer”, “Spirit of Radio”, and “2112: Overture”, the latter featuring Foo Fighters; Springsteen and Bob Dylan linking up for “Forever Young”; and Gabriel singing “Digging in the Dirt”. Watch all of these videos below. Rock and Roll Hall of...
An induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame may be the highest achievable accolade for recording artists in our time. A multitude of instantly recognizable artists and bands like The Beach Boys, KISS, Madonna, and Public Enemy have all received the honor, and in 2020, even more artists will join their ranks. Every year, the induction ceremony takes place at a live event, complete with concert performances and festivities. However, amid the social distancing regulations contrived by the COVID-19 pandemic, the ceremony has moved to a view-only format, being broadcast via HBO special in accordance with government-mandated safety precautions. Among this year’s inductees are Depeche Mode, the trailblazing electronic music outfit who changed rock music forever. Depe...
Over the course of this period of self-isolation, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame has opened its vault and uploaded hundreds of video clips from past induction ceremonies to YouTube. The initial batch of uploads consists of video from last year’s ceremony enshrining Radiohead, The Cure, Stevie Nicks, Roxy Music, and others. There’s both performance footage — including Stevie Nicks teaming with Harry Styles for “Stop Draggin’ My Heart” — as well as each act’s respective induction speech. Since then, the Rock Hall has posted video from Neil Young’s 1995 induction, including Eddie Vedder’s introduction and their on-stage collaboration of “Fuckin’ Up”; Talking Heads’ 2002 induction and the band’s subsequent live reunion; and Prince’s 2004 induction, which saw him take the stage and rip ...
