Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney Record Their Colonoscopies for Cancer Awareness: Watch

If you’ve ever wanted to watch Ryan Reynolds or Rob McElhenney get a colonoscopy, now’s your chance. Both stars have shared footage of themselves undergoing the procedure as part of the colon cancer awareness initiative Lead From Behind. As the Welcome to Wrexham duo explain, Reynolds joked with McElhenney that he would “publicly broadcast his colonoscopy” if his co-star could learn to speak Welsh. McElhenney succeeded, and as both men are at the screening age of 45, they figured they’d take the opportunity to de-stigmatize the examination, especially since it can save lives. “I would never normally have any medical procedure put on camera and then share it,” Reynolds says in the clip, while we’re actively watching him walk into the hospital for his colonoscopy. “It’s not everyda...

Welcome to Wrexham Review: Watching Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds Buy a Sports Team Is Damn Compelling

The Pitch: English: PitchAmerican: FieldWelsh: Traw In 2020, Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds bought a Welsh football team. Neither of them had ever been to Wales before taking such an enormous leap, let alone Wrexham. Nor had either of them ever followed the English football league, let alone the fifth-tier Wrexham Red Dragons. And yet, they saw some real potential both in the club (which is the third oldest football team in the world and the oldest professional club in Wales — they even play at the Racecourse, the oldest international football pitch in the world, est. 1807) as well as in the residents of Wrexham. Potential for historic sporting success, sure, but also the potential for an incredible story. And so they started making this docuseries. And then they bought the club. (Y...

Even After 15 Seasons, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia Keeps Getting Better

The Pitch: Think back to what you were doing in the year 2005. It’s pretty unlikely that your life then was the same as it is now — different friends, different pop culture, different kinds of work keeping you busy. Maybe your then-toddler is now getting ready for college, or maybe you were yourself still basically a child. But since 2005, one thing remains constant: The gang behind It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia have continued to make their FXX show, and do it better than so many of the comedies out there today. The secret behind this pretty wild degree of success can be very easily attributed to the fact that the series has very deliberately, especially in the last five or so years, matured to a degree. Not that the gang running a crappy Philly bar has grown up — though several of the...

It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia Renewed for Record-Breaking 15th Season

Over 14 season, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia has embraced Frank Reynolds’ guiding principle: “I don’t know how many years on this Earth I got left. I’m gonna get real weird with it.” All that strangeness has paid off in record fashion, as FX has renewed the show for a 15th season, making it the longest-running live-action comedy series of all time. With last year’s Season 14, the gang tied ABC’s The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet for the title, but when Season 15 airs in 2021, they’ll officially make TV history. Such a lofty and seemingly unreachable feat sounds like it could easily be the plot for one of Mac, Charlie, Dennis, Dee and Frank’s ambitious adventures — except here they actually accomplished what they set out to do. Grab a rum ham and celebrate accordingly. Although ...
