RL Grime‘s “Halloween X” show was a “quantum anomaly” to remember. At least, that’s how renowned astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson labeled it. The planetary scientist, author, and host of Cosmos joined the ranks of surprise celebrity guests—including T-Pain and Guy Fieri—in delivering a particularly ominous introduction on behalf of Grime at last night’s “Halloween X Live” performance. “It is your turn to fight off goblins and ghouls as we merge with a cosmic force I have never before encountered.” Tyson warned. “A space time irregularity that leaves me no choice but to summon another guide, a celestial being known for his mystic composition of dark frequencies. We don’t have a name for him in the sc...
For just a few bones, the ghouls and goblins of the electronic music world can join RL Grime live at his “Halloween X” concert from anywhere in the world. While October brings the changing of the leaves, pumpkin spice everything, and seasonal sadness, it also serves as the month where the trap music kingpin unveils his annual Halloween mix. To celebrate the 10th chapter in his hotly anticipated series, he’s hosting his first-ever live Halloween mix performance in Los Angeles. Unsurprisingly, tickets to the event sold out in the blink of an eye, but Grime has recruited the help of Moment House to curate a livestreamed experience for fans who can’t make it to the show. There will be multiple broadcasts the day after the premiere to serve fans living in different timez...

And there’s a reason why Grime, who is considered a trailblazer in trap music, snapped up this record: it’s a vehicle to showcase the genre’s future. EDM fans have a habit of skipping to the loudest parts of a song’s waveform—also known as the drop—but doing so would be a crime with Nightrealm. Each of its five tracks are cinematic in nature, rife with eerie, visceral melodies that breathe life into their drops. Artwork for ISOxo’s “Nightrealm” EP. This year’s HARD Summer lineup was chock full of attention-grabbing back-to-back action, but perhaps none more highly anticipated than the synergy of RL Grime and Baauer, who took to the mainstage in tandem on opening night. For 75 minutes the two blitzed through a jam-packed DJ set of hits and hidden gems that left no room for downtime. Never losing step with the crowd, it seemed as though thousands of fans hung onto every word they could possibly belt out from start to finish. The two trap dons didn’t hesitate to inject their biggest tracks with singalong style qualities in a slew of fierce live edits. Baauer’s “PLANET’S MAD – DOOM INTRO” fused with Drowning Pool’s “Bodies” in a seamless twist as RL Grime’s...
It’s been almost eight years since Baauer and RL Grime joined forces for 2013’s “Infinite Daps,” a song that has stood the test of time as a trap classic. They’re now back with a new single called “Fallaway,” which arrives under the cloak of their new audiovisual project HÆRNY. “Fallaway” is a departure for the trap music vets, but that doesn’t make it any less groundbreaking. They’ve gone the drum & bass route here, producing a frenetic, radiant banger as the genre’s stateside explosion continues. RL Grime and Baauer have both operated at the bleeding edge of electronic music for nearly a decade now and this track is yet another reminder of their trailblazing approach to sound design.
