Renowned electronic producer, vocalist, and multi-instrumentalist Grabbitz was quick to enrapture the EDM world with his April collaboration with REZZ, “Someone Else,” which spotlighted his stirring, Hozier-esque vocals at their finest. Now, it seems he has done the impossible, transforming the head-banging bass of “Your Fault” by Excision, SLANDER and Elle Vee into a gorgeous chorale cover suitable for all musical palettes. With a dazzling use of harmonies, Grabbitz’s take on “Your Fault” is bound to consume any listener’s attention for the entirety of its single minute, deconstrcuting the track down to pure vocal perfection. It was all done in a style popularized by musician Jacob Collier, with Grabbitz splicing together five...

DREZZO, anyone? Two producers churning out some of the darkest bass in electronic music have teamed up for a sinister collaboration. Electro house wizard Drezo took to Twitter today to share a preview of an unreleased collab with none other than REZZ. It’s still an ID at the moment and the clip is only 15-seconds long, but you can hear the direction the two are going—and it sounds massive. Signature sounds of both artists are present here, like Drezo’s ominous bass plucks and REZZ’s hypnotic pads. Neither of them have announced an official release date. Check out the preview below, courtesy of a tweet by Drezo. It’s worth noting that one of the audio clips has been named “DREZZO,” which would most likely be the name of the pair if they wer...

In 2017 and 2018, the momentum of the #MeToo and Time’s Up movements swelled to an ineluctable peak. The entertainment industry came to a screeching halt as film, television and music production companies reckoned with the blatant sexism rampant throughout their workplaces—and the dangerous circumstances such inequity can produce. The spotlight is now turning to EDM with the release of a new feature-length documentary called Underplayed. Featuring interviews with women and several male allies working in all aspects of the industry, including sound engineers, producers, journalists and major artists, the film offers timely insights into just how much work is left to be done in electronic music. Of 2019’s top 100 DJs, only five were women, according to the film̵...
You know its officially spooky season once REZZ arrives on the scene. Back just in time to unleash her slew of unearthly sounds, REZZ has released a new track called “Orbit,” her first single in nearly six months. Rezz’s latest offering paints vibrant images of unfamiliar environments far from the reaches of this planet. An ominous synth pad envelops the resonate taps of a hollowed out drum as though the arrangement were twisting into a dark void. Distinct one-off basses interject before passing through as quickly as they arrived. A lonely melody plays out deliberately note by note before fading into darkness. The sonic journey ultimately culminates in a sequence driven by a swiveling lead synth that—in typical Rezz fashion—defies all descriptors. The single is...
REZZ has shared a preview of a new single, which officially drops next week. Dubbed “ORBIT,” the track is sounding—for lack of a better term—nasty. The prodigious bass music producer and recent Juno Award winner shared a preview via Twitter, sharing a clip that offers a glimpse into the build and drop of “ORBIT.” It’s a hypnotic yet bone-rattling midtempo tune that will slide in nicely with the rest of her groundbreaking catalog. Back in August, Space Mom announced that she’s working on a brand new album. While she is yet to confirm “ORBIT” as one of its singles, fans can certainly wonder whether or not the haunting track is a harbinger for the record in question. At the time of this article’s publishing, REZZ has not rev...
Last week, EDM’s “Space Mom” REZZ took to the road in the United States for a limited and intimate run of drive-in concerts. With fellow rising star and collaborator Grabbitz in tow, REZZ made stops in Atlanta, Columbus, and Chicago to bring her astounding performances and visuals to audiences hungry for some semblance of a normal music event amid the chaos contrived by the COVID-19 pandemic. Though the drive-in format is a novel concept for concert-goers, it appears that REZZ and Grabbitz put on three delightful events to help those fans get their fix of live electronic music in the quarantined United States. In accordance with all nationwide and local regulations, REZZ’s concerts last week provided a safe and exciting experience for her fans in those three c...
Due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, promoters and artists alike have adapted to the absence of live music by planning drive-in shows. Myriad artists in the EDM scene—many who are struggling during these harrowing times—have pulled off safe, successful performances, including deadmau5, Carnage, and Adventure Club. As our friends at Your EDM point out, while drive-in events don’t exactly mirror the ineffable experience of a normal concert, they represent the best option available to musicians at the moment. As the drive-in rave craze continues its surge in the wake of COVID-19, another major electronic music artist has entered the fray. Juno Award-winning bass music producer REZZ has now thrown her hat into the ring. Taking to Twitter to share the news, she ann...

The prolific NERVO duo—comprised of sisters and mothers Liv and Mim Nervo—are in the midst of a typically triumphant year, releasing new music at a breakneck pace. They’ve unveiled collaborations with Plastik Funk (“Dar...
A new documentary underscoring the blatant lack of female inclusivity in the dance music industry is primed for its world premiere. Sponsored by Bud Light Canada, “Underplayed” will feature a litany of influential women in the electronic dance music scene, including REZZ, NERVO, Anna Lunoe, Alison Wonderland, and TOKiMONSTA, among others, who will wax poetic about their gross underrepresentation in a modern musical zeitgeist they helped to popularize. The film will also explore their insights into how women can champion change in a historically male-dominated industry. “The world of electronic music was created to promote diversity and inclusion,” Bud Light pointed out in a tweet. “Yet, in 2019, only 5 of the world’s top 100 DJs were women.” T...
Following Malaa‘s official remix of “Someone Else,” REZZ and Grabbitz have recruited—well, someone else for a monster trap rework. This time around, the electronic music stars have tapped blossoming bass producer PEEKABOO to twist their collaborative hit into a raucous trap rendition. While Malaa went the deep house route, PEEKABOO transported the single to the darkest valleys of the bass netherworld, employing quirky plucks, screeching synths, and thunderous 808s to deliver a festival-ready thumper in a world with no festivals. The Detroit-born young gun has emerged one of the most highly sought-after remixers in bass music at the moment. In a post-trap landscape akin to an EDM Wild West where producers get extremely creative with unorthodox sound design, PEEKABOO i...
