Rezz has released “Gyrate,” a mind-melting collaboration with Quackson and EDM.com Class of 2022 star Wreckno. After teasing the track on social media for weeks, it’s finally here. And it’s arrived on Friday the 13th, a fitting day for the HypnoVision Records boss, whose music is chock full of spooky, experimental influences. With its gritty midtempo flair and filthy, half-time trap switch-up, “Gyrate” is sure to get any crowd moving. Following the launch of her new label back in October 2022, it seems Rezz is delivering on her promise to plug and support promising electronic music talent by way of HypnoVision. “As my touring schedule has become more specific, I have more time to focus on other projects I am passionate about,”...
Stereotypes often box Iranians into the fields of doctor, engineer or realtor, but they sure know how to have a good time. It isn’t unusual for family gatherings—ones that often welcome dozens of guests—to transform from dinner to dance party in the blink of an eye. Guests wield various instruments seemingly pulled from the ether, a circle forms in the center of the room and a party ensues. So it should come as no surprise that vivacious spirit has found its way to electronic dance music. Iranian ingenuity courses through every level of the genre. There are artists approaching the EDM apex, rising DJs blossoming on the festival circuit and enduring veterans, all of whom share Iranian heritage. For months, Iranians have protested the alleged killing of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini at the h...
It seems Rezz was all but able to relax this year. The Canadian electronic music superstar recently appeared as a guest on KITTENS’ podcast, “She/Her/They,” to open up about the adversity that came with a grueling touring schedule, among other topics. She’s typically not one to appear on podcasts or do video interviews, let alone speak so intimately about her own personal mental and physical health, touring and finding healthy love. Rezz begins talking about her struggle with her mental health right before the “Spiral” tour, the biggest and most expensive headlining tour of her career. She said she really struggled with the tour and was reluctant to do it because the music was two years old and didn’t represent her as an artist ...
After summoning demons to Red Rocks late last month, Rezz is sharing the story. The weekend before Halloween, the fabled open-air venue hosted two nights of music from Rezz for “Rezz Rocks IV,” the first of which featured a special performance called “Nightmare On Rezz Street 2.” The show took place just two days after the release of her audiovisual mix of the same name. The follow-up to 2018’s debut, the new mix featured 12 new solo tracks that harken back to the early days of Rezz’s career. Many of these songs were featured in her near-two-hour performance at Red Rocks, and now she’s giving fans all over the world a chance to live the nightmare. Rezz has now uploaded the full 4K recording of her “Nightmare On Rezz Street 2” show....
Most of 2023’s music festival lineups are a mystery at this time, but we already know next year’s most-anticipated DJ set. After attending one of deadmau5‘s recent shows, Rezz casually revealed plans for a performance next year that sent her fans into a frenzy. She took to Twitter to announce that sometime in 2023, she’ll take the stage alongside deadmau5 at an undisclosed festival for a special headlining B2B set. As you might imagine, her dedicated fanbase lost its collective mind. deadmau5 is a close friend and mentor to Rezz, who has released many records on his venerated mau5trap imprint. Back in 2021, they finally joined forces for the first time for “Hypnocurrency,” a midtempo collaboration that brought the best of both of their unique s...
After a barrage of requests from their fans, Rezz and Seven Lions have finally released “Arcturus,” a long-awaited collaboration. Seven Lions debuted the track more than a year ago at EDC Las Vegas, where it left fans speechless as it combined the talents of two of the biggest names in today’s bass music scene. Now, “Arcturus” has been released in an official capacity. With a flurry of cinematic, stomping bass, “Arcturus” opens like a certified Rezz classic. The track then quickly switches gears and drops into a psytrance breakdown reminiscent of some of Seven Lions’ deeper cuts. Blending gothic, orchestral sound design with a dramatic build, the duo combined their distinct sounds with ease to produce a versatile anth...

REZZ‘s new spine-chilling mix is a tribute to the early days of her career. As “Nightmare On Rezz Street 2” begins, a twisted carousel of glitchy sound descends listeners into Rezz’s latest nightmare, wherein a haunting recording of a patient in a psychiatric hospital sets an ominous tone. Over the course of the 12 tracks, fans are presented with an all-original collection of dark, minimal soundscapes reminiscent of the music that helped propel Rezz to stardom. “Nightmare On Rezz Street 2” uses visceral digital animation to offer fans a well-crafted and thoughtful body of work. Alongside the sinister aesthetic and production elements, she sprinkles in some samples from a few of her classic releases. The fourth track, for example, reintrodu...

There’s nothing that blurs the line between frightening and fascinating quite like artificial intelligence. And since artificial intelligence and electronic music are becoming more symbiotic by the day, the staff here at EDM.com wanted to see just how far it could go in a visual sense. So we came up with bizarre descriptions of artists and fed them through A.I. art generators. Some images are photorealistic. Others are fancifully distorted. And the majority of them are flat-out creepy. But we digress. Read on to see our weird and wonderful creations.
