For the next month, NPR is celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month by giving its renowned Tiny Desk Concert series an “El Tiny” makeover. As the name implies, musicians from all corners of Latinidad are scheduled to take part in it, and first up is arguably the biggest name of them all: J Balvin. Watch his special performance video below. For the occasion, the Colombian star decided to set up stage on a sunny barge floating by the Brooklyn Bridge in New York City. It’s incredibly scenic and calm, especially for an intimate live concert like this one, and yet he injects the scene with his typically buoyant blend of Latin hip-hop and pop. The performance feels both laidback and hyped up at once, which is what we’ve come to expect from the artist behind the Latin Grammy-winning Colores. Fresh off...
J Balvin stopped by The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Thursday night to announce he’s headed out on a world tour next year in support of his new album Jose. “There was rumors of you announcing a tour or going on tour, and you haven’t done anything or said anything that you’re going to. But is there anything you would like to tell me?” host Jimmy Fallon asked, leading Balvin to playfully quip, “Besides that I love you?” He continued: “Yes, we’re going on sale next week. Yes! Jose’s tour! We’re gonna start in the West. Are you guys ready?” The 27-date jaunt will kick off April in San Antonio before indeed heading west to Arizona and California. Balvin will then hit major cities including Las Vegas, Houston, Miami, and Boston before closing out the tour with a performance in San Juan,...

Haviah Mighty’s recent singles are continuing to solidify her status as one of the most exciting voices in today’s underground hip-hop scene. As another preview of her forthcoming mixtape, Stock Exchange, the Toronto rapper has shared the new single “Flamenco,” which boasts guest vocals from Latin Grammy Award-winning artist Mala Rodríguez. Co-produced by Haviah and her repeat collaborator Taabu, “Flamenco” expectedly draws from Spanish and Latin influences. Its reggaeton beat calls to mind sardine-packed dance floors, or — perhaps more appropriate for the times — sweltering block parties in city streets. “With this one, I wanted to try something different,” Haviah said in a statement. “Inspired by the cultural influences behind flamenco, this song allowed me to be a guest in a new genre. ...

The ballad features Aventura breakout star Romeo Santos trading lovelorn vocals with Bad Bunny. “Yo sé que al final,” Santos sings. “A mí no me olvidas tan siquiera un poco/ Al final, baby, tú extrañas cómo yo te toco.” In English, this translates to, “I know in the end/ You won’t forget me not even a little bit/ In the end, baby, you miss how I touch you.” Advertisement Related Video Prior to its release, Santos teased the track on Twitter by declaring it would “close out the Aventura chapter in a memorable way.” In 2019, the supergroup formally reunited after ...
Blossoming Puerto Rican singer-songwriter Jhay Cortez has teamed up with Skrillex for a new single called “En Mi Cuarto,” which arrived today alongside an official music video starring Mia Khalifa. Khalifa, perhaps best known for her work in the porn industry, glides on a motorcycle down a desolate highway, doing tricks while donning a helmet with devil horns. It’s a subtle foreshadowing of what follows—a scene in which Skrillex and Cortez party in a room that bursts into flames. Check out the official “En Mi Cuarto” music video below. Recommended Articles The latest in a string of high-profile Skrillex collabs, “En Mi Cuarto” is a sultry reggaeton-house hybrid. In the world of Urbano and reggaeton, you don’t get much bigger than J Balvin, so get ready to know María Becerra’s name. The YouTuber-turned-300 Entertainment-signee has joined Balvin on the new single “Qué Más Pues?” To be fair, Becerra’s star was already swiftly on the rise, so this collaboration is really just the latest stop on her ascent. The 21-year-old became a popular influencer with her comedy, music, and vlog postings on YouTube, eventually self-releasing her debut EP, 222, in 2019. She signed with 300 a few months...

After this latter feat, the trap and reggaeton star announced “El Último Tour del Mundo”, a run of 25 North American tour dates that kicks off in February of 2022. Named after his excellent 2020 LP El Último Tour del Mundo (“The Last Tour of the World”), the jaunt will be among his first chances to stump for the albums YHLQMDLG and Que No Iban a Salir. Bad Bunny will make his triumphant return to touring on February 9th in Denver, CO,...
<span class="localtime" data-ltformat="F j, Y | g:ia" data-lttime="2021-04-09T14:36:46+00:00“>April 9, 2021 | 10:36am ET J Balvin and Khalid have teamed up for a new song called “Otra Noche Sin Ti”. The reggaetón superstar is in the midst of rolling out an as-yet-untitled new album, and this collaboration with the American singer-songwriter is the third preview from it. Compared to February’s “Ma’ G” and last month’s “Tu Veneno”, “Otra Noche Sin Ti” — which translates to “another night without you” in English — is a pained ballad that blends elements of R&B and soul into Balvin’s style of reggaetón. Balvin delivers his verse in Spanish while Khalid uses his silky croon to sing in English about loneliness and desperation. Check out the well-done duet...
