STS9 is no stranger to taking fans on music journeys by way of their high-energy jamtronica live sets. But the five-piece traded their lighthearted music adventures for a full-fledged musical mission this past weekend at the third and final installment of their concert trilogy, “Walk The Sky.” The trilogy began in 2019 with “Push The Sky” and continued in 2021 with “Sky World” after a year off due to the impact of the pandemic. This past weekend’s conclusion featured four sets at Colorado’s iconic Red Rocks Amphitheatre and a special “Day Out Of Time” Sunday performance at Denver’s Levitt Pavilion, all of which “pulled inspiration from native myth and storytelling to deliver shows that are uniquely STS9.” Fans were also a...
In an unstable year for touring, an unlikely contender has risen to become the highest-grossing and most-attended venue of the year. According to data provided to Billboard Boxscore, Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colorado is not only the biggest moneymaking venue with a capacity between 5,001-10,000 of 2021 but the top-grossing venue of any size, in the world, for the year. With 134 shows reported to Boxscore, the beloved, 9,500-seat outdoor venue brought in more than $61.6 million. To further contextualize Red Rocks’ extraordinary performance, the amphitheater out-earned the next highest-grossing venue overall — Las Vegas’ 20,000-capacity T-Mobile Arena, which took in $37.2 million last year according to Billboard Boxscore — by more than $24 million. The next highest-reported ...

While it won’t look quite the same due to a vastly reduced capacity, Red Rocks Amphitheatre is leading the charge of the return of music festival season. And while the iconic venue’s 80th anniversary summer season will operate at a limited capacity of 2,500—around 25% of its normal volume—the slash of its size had no effect on its typically jaw-dropping performance schedule. From a performance by legendary rock band Lynyrd Skynyrd to a Kidz Bop World Tour concert, there are all kinds of shows slated for Red Rocks this year. It’s the electronic music shows, however, that stand out above the rest. ZHU, Zeds Dead, Alison Wonderland, and many more are set to return to Red Rocks this year. Red Rocks Amphitheatre announced it will host events this summer at a reduced capacity of 2,500. With state approval, Red Rocks will soon reopen for its 80th anniversary summer season. Originally hosting up to 9,450 people, the venue’s reduced capacity represents around 25% of its normal volume. Representatives announced the news on Red Rocks’ official Twitter page, promising more announcements soon. Amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the iconic Colorado open air venue wasn’t immune to the widespread closures precipitated by the virus’ impact. While Red Rocks worked with state officials in September and October to host socially-distant, 175-capacity shows, the regulations weren’t economical for the venue to continue operations. Each county in Colorado falls into it...
If there’s one thing we’ve learned over the course of the COVID-19 pandemic, people have been extremely board. Following a massive blizzard that trapped hundreds of cars on highways and left some parts of Colorado buried in two feet of snow, one intrepid snowboarder saw an opportunity. A local man named Wes Hughes decided to head to the fabled Red Rocks Amphitheatre, where he snuck in for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to board down the snow-covered venue. Skiing and snowboarding are not allowed at Red Rocks, according to the Denver Parks and Recreation Department. Ergo, Hughes was eventually escorted off the property by the venue’s security team, but not before shredding powder down the entire amphitheatre. Check out the video below, courtesy o...
