Lizzo Announces New Album, SPECIAL, Shares “About Damn Time”: Stream

It’s About Damn Time: Lizzo has announced her highly anticipated new album, SPECIAL, which will be released on July 15th. As a preview, the self-proclaimed “Bop Star” has shared the cheeky new single, “About Damn Time.” The upbeat single is a celebration tailor-made for the summer months, as Lizzo stretches her vocals over a disco-influenced beat. “Turn up the music, turn down the lights/ I’ve got a feeling I’m gon’ be alright/ Okay alright, it’s about damn time,” she sings. “Turn up the music, let’s celebrate/ I’ve got a feeling I’m gon’ be okay.” Watch the song’s accompanying video below. SAULT Drop Surprise Album Air: Stream

SAULT have unfurled a surprise new album called Air. The studio set came with little warning or fanfare from the mysterious British collective, who wiped their Instagram feed just hours before releasing the record to reveal its simple cover art. Syd has released Broken Hearts Club, her sophomore solo album, via Columbia Records. Stream it below. The project, a follow-up to her 2017 solo debut Fin and EP Always Never Home, was preceded by singles “Missing Out,” “Fast Car,” and album opener “CYBAH” featuring a guest assist from Lucky Daye. You’ve heard of the Satan Shoe; now, get ready for the vinyl blade. The Weeknd has teamed with Brooklyn hypebeast art collective MSCHF to release his single “Out of Time” on a playable saw blade. MSCHF is the same company that made Lil Nas X’s Satan Shoe, a Nike Air Max 97 marketed as containing a drop of human blood. As The Weeknd continues to promote his new album Dawn FM, the collective is auctioning off 25 vinyl blades for 24 hours only (and a minimum bid of $1,000). Memphis Street to be Named For Last Surviving Member of Bar-Kays

James Alexander, the last surviving member of The Bar-Kays band that backed soul music star Otis Redding, will have a street renamed after him in his hometown of Memphis, Tennessee, Stax Museum said. Located near the Stax Records studios where the the soul-funk collective recorded, Stafford Avenue in Memphis is scheduled to get a new name on April 24: James E. Alexander Avenue. The bassist is the founder and last living member of the Bar-Kays. Four band members and Redding died when their plane crashed into an icy lake in Wisconsin on Dec. 10, 1967. They were headed to a show in Madison when the plane went down. The Weeknd Set to Appear in Upcoming Simpsons Episode

The Weeknd is making his return to animated television. In an episode of The Simpsons airing on March 20th called “Bart the Cool Kid,” he’ll voice a character named Orion Hughes. Also making a cameo is Michael Rapaport as Mike Wegman. According to a press release from FOX, the episode centers around Homer leading “a rebellion of loser dads” after Bart befriends “a famous kid influencer who owns an ultra-cool skatewear brand.” Fans of The Weeknd will recall the R&B singer born Abel Tesfaye co-wrote and starred in an episode of Seth MacFarlane’s American Dad back in May 2020. During the guest appearance, he performed a new song titled “I’m a Virgin” written specifically for the show.
