Beyoncé joins rarefied air on Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart as she becomes only the fourth solo woman to claim double-digit champs since the list became an all-encompassing genre ranking in 1958. She punches her ticket with “Break My Soul,” which hits No. 1 on the list dated Aug. 13. Aretha Franklin leads the No. 1 club among solo women (with 20), while Janet Jackson (16) and Mariah Carey (10) also have at least 10 leaders. “Soul” advances from No. 4 to the top slot after a surge in streams and sales following the July 29 release of parent album Renaissance, which concurrently tops the Billboard 200 and Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums lists. “Soul,” meanwhile, also ascends to No. 1 on the all-genre Billboard Hot 100, where it becomes Beyoncé’s eighth solo champ. The track register...

Sources close to The Weeknd believe his shocking Grammys snubbing was not an oversight by the Recording Academy, but rather an act of retaliation. The Canadian crooner’s fourth album, After Hours, is one of the year’s biggest releases — both commercially and critically. Going into yesterday, a nomination for Album of the Year felt like a lock. The smash After Hours single “Blinding Lights” was also expected to receive consideration for Song of the Year and Record of the Year. But ultimately, The Weeknd was completely shut out of the general music categories. He also failed to receive a single nomination in the genre-specific categories. How was this possible? Sources close to The Weeknd believe the Recording Academy sought revenge after the singer agreed to headline the 2020 Super Bowl hal...

According to Kelly’s attorney Steve Greenberg, Farmer crept into the cell and began “stomping on [Kelly’s] head, repeatedly.” Farmer also allegedly had “an ink pen with him that he was going to use to stab Mr. Kelly.” Because of the attack, Greenberg is requesting that Kelly be released from jail on bail until his federal sex crimes trial begins later this year. Farmer is representing himself in a federal appeals court and he discussed the incident in court documents, according ...
