Soul Glo Announce New Album, Share “Jump!! (Or Get Jumped!!!)((by the future))”: Stream

Soul Glo have announced a new album, Diaspora Problems, arriving March 25th via Epitaph. The Philly hardcore outfit also shared the video for lead single “Jump!! (Or Get Jumped!!!)((by the future)).” The new album will be Soul Glo’s second full-length LP — following an EP released in 2020 — and the band’s first for esteemed punk label Epitaph. Soul Glo’s impactful brand of hardcore also garnered our attention when we picked them as one of our Top 5 emerging punk bands last year. They deliver on the hype with “Jump!! (Or Get Jumped!!!)((by the future)).” The rhythmically dynamic rager is dense with spitfire lyrics that tackle “the disposability of Black art and its creators” and the uncertainty of making plans with an uncertain future. Travis Barker Turns Adele’s “Easy on Me” Into Hard-Rock Anthem with Thunderous Drum Cover: Watch

Travis Barker has delivered a thunderous drum cover of Adele’s recent chart-topping single “Easy on Me,” turning the heart-wrenching ballad into a hard-rocking anthem. The Blink-182 stickman posted a 30-second clip of himself on Instagram going full bore on his kit as the original song plays in the background. Barker’s take on the tune may turn some fans of heavy music onto the song, if they hadn’t already been lured in by Adele’s mesmerizing vocals. Sporting a Napalm Death shirt, Barker channels The Muppets’ Animal as he beats the hell out of his drums, all timed perfectly to the tune’s chorus. The performance earned Barker a heart emoji from his new fiancée, Kourtney Kardashian, as well as lots of fire emojis from other commenters. Dee Dee Ramone’s Gravesite Is Visited Daily by a Bevy of Ducks

A bevy of punk-loving ducks pay their respects to the late Dee Dee Ramone on a daily basis. The moshing mallards consistently visit the legendary Ramones bassist’s gravesite at the Hollywood Forever Cemetary, thanks to a clever Los Angeles couple. Coyote Shivers (who played Berko in the film Empire Records) and his partner Pleasant Gehman “inherited” five ducks from a friend who had raised them but was no longer able to keep them on his property. The pair decided to feed the ducks at Dee Dee’s tombstone using a “dinner bell” dubbed “Duckskrieg Bop” (essentially a recording of “Blitzkrieg Bop” with quacks) to lure the feathered friends to the site. The strategy has worked like a charm, and the ducks have become daily visitors. The idea came in the midst of the pandemic, as Shivers explained...

In Photos: Reunited Lunachicks Play Triumphant New York City Show with Toilet Boys

Thanksgiving Day weekend in New York City means the joyful return of Santa Claus to officially kick off the holiday season. However, this year Santa may have been upstaged — at least for those who prefer to be on the naughty list. Lunachicks, NYC’s loudest native daughters triumphantly returned after a 17-year hiatus, to the delight of a pair of jam-packed crowds during a two-night stand at Webster Hall. Originally planned for April 2020, things got in the way of that. As Lunachicks’ guitarist Gina Volpe joked, “Leave it to us to plan a reunion right before a pandemic.” Rescheduled due to COVID, the band thanked the sold-out crowd for being patient — and their patience paid off. The NYC shows marked the band’s first headlining gigs since 2004, and followed a pair of performances at the Pun...

R.I.P. Hank Von Helvete, Former Turbonegro Singer Dies at 49

Hank Von Helvete, the best-known singer of long-running Norwegian death-punk act Turbonegro, has died at age 49. His passing was confirmed by his family via the Norwegian newspaper Tvedestrandsposten and through Turbonegro’s social media pages, but no cause of death was revealed. Von Helvete (real name Hans-Erik Dyvik Husby) joined Turbonegro as the band’s third lead singer in 1993, taking over for Harald Fossberg. He fronted Turbonegro until his departure in 2009, save for a hiatus that lasted from 1999 to 2002. That break was due in part to Von Helvete’s drug addiction at the time, as he was undergoing treatment for heroin dependency. During his time with Turbonegro, Von Helvete recorded several albums with the group, beginning with 1994’s Never Is Forever and ending with 2007’s Ret...
