Sony Music Latin Unveils New Headquarters in Puerto Rico

Sony Music US Latin has officially opened its new headquarters in Puerto Rico, Billboard can confirm today (Dec. 8).  The multinational record label, which has had its facilities on the island since 1980 (formerly CBS Records), is relocating to the modern office complex Ciudadela in Santurce, where the label’s artists will have access to a press room, recording studio, content creation room for networks, and other benefits. “These new offices are a tangible demonstration of what Puerto Rico represents for Sony and for Latino culture,” Alex Gallardo, president of Sony Music US Latin tells Billboard via email. “In addition, this expansion will allow us to provide a better service and support our current artists even more.” Reaffirming its commitment to Boricua talent, Victor Manuelle, P...

Hurricane Fiona Knocks Out Power Across Puerto Rico

According to reports, the entire island is without power, and the situation appears to still be dire for the island’s 3.2 million residents. Hurricane Fiona was listed as a Category 1 storm, a stark difference from the Category 4 Hurricane Maria that rocked the island in 2017., as reported by The Washington Post. Binance.US awarded money transmitter license in Puerto Rico

Puerto Rico becomes the fourth jurisdiction in America to grant a money transmitter license to Binance.US, the American arm of the crypto exchange Binance. Other states that issued operational licenses to Binance.US include Wyoming, Connecticut and West Virginia.  Binance.US was launched as a second attempt by Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao to cater to investors in the United States as the nation banned Binance’s primary operations, citing regulatory concerns. The Majority Of Puerto Rico Remained Without Power After Grid Caught Fire
