Nigeria midfielder Mikel Agu has acquired Portuguese citizenship after a decade of residency in the European country. According to Portuguese law, an individual is eligible for citizenship through naturalisation after six years of residence. That is the process Agu has gone through to get acquire his Portuguese passport. The 27-year-old took to the social media to share the news on Tuesday. “What God cannot do does not exist, now a Portuguese,” he posted on the social media, while holding his Portuguese passport. Police: Man nabbed with human head, hands in Kwara
The Kwara State Police Command has announced the arrest of one Kehinde Moses, 24, who was allegedly caught with a fresh human head and hands on Monday. The spokesperson of the command, Ajayi Okasanmi, said a team of operatives, on a stop and search duty along Ajase-Ipo road, stopped a commercial bus and in the process of searching a bag, one boy took to his heels while his partner was held. A female aspirant in the Nov. 6 governorship in Anambra, Mrs Chidi Onyemelukwe, has urged the electorate to guard against monetary inducement in making their choice of candidates. Presidency: Aso Rock clinic now self-sufficient
The Presidency has said that the Aso Rock Clinic is now fully self-sufficient, saying medical service delivery has improved at the facility. Minister dissolves board of sports federation, set up caretaker committee

Kano governor: Nigeria can’t progress with current level of corruption
Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of Kano State has said Nigeria cannot progress with the level of corruption in the country. Speaking on Thursday at the inauguration of an eight-man Anti-Corruption Strategy Steering Committee, Ganduje stressed that all stakeholders must do all that is necessary to ensure a corruption-free state with limitless opportunities. Senate passes amended AMCON bill, empowers agency to seize debtors’ assets
The Senate Wednesday passed the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria Amendment bill after considering the report of its Committee on Banking, Insurance, and Other Financial Institutions. The amendment bill passed by the upper chamber empowers the Assets Management Corporation of Nigeria to, among others, take possession, manage or sell all properties traced to debtors, whether or not such assets or property is used as security/collateral for obtaining the loan in particular. It also empowers the corporation to access the Special Tribunal established by the BOFIA, 2020 for dealing with financial related matters. Operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of the Ekiti State police command have arrested five students suspected to be members of BLACK AXE (AIYE) secret confraternity during rituals of initiation in the state. Minister: Nigeria needs N1.89 trillion to eradicate malaria
The federal government has said that it will require N1.89 trillion to successfully implement the new five-year strategic plan aimed at eradicating malaria in Nigeria. It said that about N352 billion out of the amount is required for the year 2021 programme implementation. In his address to mark this year’s World Malaria Day, the Minister of Health, Dr. Osagie Ehanire, said the target set out in the National Malaria Strategic Plan of 2021 to 2025 is to achieve less than 10 per cent parasite prevalence and reduction in mortality attributable to malaria to less than 50 deaths per 1,000 live births by 2025.
