Look Inside Portola, San Francisco’s Newest Electronic Music Festival

San Francisco’s newest music festival, Portola, went down over the weekend, walloping the Bay Area with the sounds of electronic music greats. The fest, which is produced by Goldenvoice and took place on September 24th and 25th, attracted roughly 30,000 fans and featured an epic lineup. Flume, Fatboy Slim, Four Tet, Jamie xx, Kaytranada, Peggy Gou, Fred again.. and The Chemical Brothers threw down at the sun-kissed grounds of Pier 80, among others. AEG Responds to Viral Clips of People Storming Barricades of Portola Music Festival

San Francisco’s debut Portola Music Festival landed in a viral social media cycle over the weekend due to concerns over crowd control. Its parent company, AEG, has now responded. The two-day event, which took over Pier 80 in the Bay Area over the weekend, saw the likes of Flume, Bob Moses, Kaytranada and many more taking to the stage throughout the weekend. Outside of the performances themselves, a couple viral clips wherein festival-goers appeared to hop barricades and storm through broken barriers by the hundreds grabbed attention online. The breach occurred in the time preceding Fred again..’s set on opening day around 5PM, according to Billboard. Flume, Kaytranada, The Chemical Brothers, More to Play Goldenvoice’s New San Francisco Festival, Portola

Goldenvoice is returning to California this fall for a brand new two-day event. Introducing Portola Music Festival, a new festival from the minds behind Coachella. As shared in a press release, the name comes from the Portola Festival of 1909 which was a local celebration that honored the reopening of the city after an unprecedented earthquake in 1906 destroyed most of San Francisco. Across the newly-established social media channels, the full lineup for the first edition of the event was shared. Headlining night one and night two respectively is the modern-day legend, Flume and the pioneering, veteran duo, The Chemical Brothers.
