Electronic music listeners tend to become enamored with the genre at an early age, according to the results of a recent EDM.com reader poll. The fact that the blissfully care-free lifestyle promoted by electronic dance music culture appeals vastly to youthful demographics isn’t necessarily a surprising discovery, but the weighting by percentage skews more youthful than perhaps one would expect. Precisely half of respondents reported first beginning their EDM journey between the ages of 0-15. This would suggest that listeners at the high end of this segment were born around 2007, a time when dance music was just on the cusp of booming in the U.S. during the late 2000s and early 2010s. Our latest EDM.com poll found 85% of dance music fans began listening before th...

Fans are yearning for the soaring, euphoric riffs characteristic of the iconic house music singles that dominated the early 2010s. At least, that’s one interpretation of a new EDM.com social media poll. When we asked the fans which classic dance music single needed some 2021 remix magic, nearly 20,000 nostalgic respondents weighed in. By a wide margin, electronic music fans felt Swedish House Mafia‘s swan song, “Don’t You Worry Child” could use a resurgence. The single was among the first dance tracks at the time to land on major metropolitan pop radio stations, unifying fans across the globe in the process. Simultaneously, we sullenly counted down to the conclusion of the group’s One Last Tour, which felt like the definitive end to an era. Li...
In a recent survey conducted by EDM.com, two-thirds of respondents revealed they believe promoters should take action in ensuring that attendees are vaccinated prior to entry. The idea of implementing vaccine passport regulation has been a hotly debated topic in recent weeks. In the United States there is currently no enforcement of such policies at the federal level, which has, by consequence, left the states to make their own decisions. New York, for example, does not mandate businesses to verify vaccination status. However, their implementation of Excelsior Pass, a digital vaccine verification system, has allowed venues to make the decision for themselves as to whether or not they want to utilize it. On the other hand, Florida has banned businesses from verifying vaccination ...
For the first time, a majority of Brazilians support impeaching President Jair Bolsonaro, according to a poll released on Saturday, as serious graft allegations related to vaccine procurement hit the right-wing leader’s already battered image. According to the survey by Datafolha, 54% of Brazilians support a proposed move by the country’s lower house to open impeachment proceedings against Bolsonaro, while 42% oppose it. In the last Datafolha survey on the issue, released in May, supporters and opponents of impeachment were essentially tied. In a separate Datafolha poll, released on Thursday, 51% of Brazilians said they disapproved of Bolsonaro, the highest figure since he took office in January 2019. In recent weeks, Brasilia has been rocked by allegations that federal officials solicited...
