HipHopWired Featured Video Source: Anna Moneymaker / Getty After weeks of combative debate, Democrats in the House of Representatives came together to push forward their expansive social and environmental bill to a vote of approval despite the lengthy objections of GOP Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA). The final version of the Build Back Better Act passed the House of Representatives with a near party-line vote of 220-213. A lone Democrat, Rep. DaDrama: Twitter Won’t Let DaniLeigh Forget Her Alleged Colorism Despite Issues With DaBaby #DaniLeigh

HipHopWired Featured Video CLOSE Source: Johnny Nunez / Getty Despite having an aversion to the space bar and being beefing co-parents, it doesn’t seem like DaniLeigh and DaBaby have much else in common at the moment. After the debacle of their argument going wide on social media, folks on Twitter are reminding DaniLeigh for her jabs at the mothers of the Charlotte rapper’s children and their complexion, among other points. In the past 24 hours, it’s been revealed that DaniLeigh was apparently living with DaBaby in North Carolina in a condo with their infant daughter, even looking cozy in some images that made it to the Internet. However, there was some serious arguing going down in another series of videos that went wide from Instagram Live that seemingly pointed to greater issues between...

Former Punk Rocker Beto O’Rourke Running for Texas Governor

Next year, civilians of Texas will decide whether or not they want to re-elect an anti-abortion troll as their state’s governor. While we don’t want to speak too soon, it appears that the chances of incumbent Greg Abbott winning are getting slimmer and slimmer, especially now that famous former punk Beto O’Rourke has officially joined the gubernatorial race for the 2022 election. O’Rourke, a former Texas congressman, is a man of the people. The Democratic candidate earned the hearts of liberal music geeks nationwide during his 2018 Texas Senate run when word got out that he used to play in punk bands — though noted tone-deaf coward Ted Cruz was not amused. Before he began breaking a sweat on the campaign trail, he was cutting his teeth in El Paso’s DIY rock scene, eventually meeting C...

At QAnon Conference, Jim Caviezel Quotes Braveheart to Fight “Lucifer”

In a bizarre appearance at a QAnon conference, Passion of the Christ actor Jim Caviezel mixed religious bombast with quotes from the movie Braveheart as he called on the crowd to “[send] Lucifer… straight back to hell.” The For God and Country Patriot Double Down event took place at the Ahern Hotel in Las Vegas from October 22nd to 25th. Via Mediaite, the conference was themed around “loss of liberties” and was scheduled to end with a mask burning. The actor’s speech was split into roughly three parts: cool movie quotes, Biblical rage, and rightwing conspiratorial winking. “Will you fight?” Caviezel asked the crowd, as Mel Gibson had done in Braveheart. Without a Scottish soldier to say the next line, Caviezel was forced to play both parts himself, p...

F*ck Christopher Columbus: Twitter Celebrates Indigenous Peoples’ Day #IndigenousPeoplesDay

HipHopWired Featured Video CLOSE Source: Erik McGregor / Getty Since 1992, Indigenous Peoples’ Day has been celebrated in stark opposition to the United States federal holiday, Christopher Columbus Day, lambasting the Italian explorer’s so-called discovery of the Americas. President Joe Biden is the first U.S. president to formally recognize Indigenous Peoples’ Day, and many on Twitter are joined in a virtual celebration. According to the Wikipedia entry on the holiday, the holiday was first adopted in 1989 in South Dakota as Native American Day. Some two decades later, three other cities, Grand Rapids,...

Tom Morello Defends Friendship with Ted Nugent: I Have the “Right to Be Friends with Anybody”

Rage Against the Machine guitarist Tom Morello has once again defended his unlikely friendship with right-wing rocker Ted Nugent. In a new interview, the guitarist stressed the importance of keeping an open dialogue with those you disagree with. “I reserve the right to be friends with anybody,” Morello told NME. “I reserve the right to confront opinions I disagree with, with open heartedness and love, or by throwing a brick.
