Ariel Pink Dropped From His Label After Attending Capitol Riots

Of the countless upsetting aspects of the pro-Trump insurrection that stormed the US Capitol on Wednesday, the one that ricocheted into the indie music news cycle was the confirmed attendance of singer-songwriter Ariel Pink. The 42-year-old travelled to D.C. with fellow lo-fi pop artist John Maus to show their support for Trump’s baseless election fraud claims, and on Friday, Pink’s label Mexican Summer announced that they had dropped him from their roster. “Due to recent events, Mexican Summer and its staff have decided to end our working relationship with Ariel Rosenberg AKA Ariel Pink moving forward,” the label tweeted on January 8th. Ariel Pink Attended Capitol Protest, Iced Earth’s Jon Schaffer Stormed the Building

Instead of affirming the election of President-elect Joe Biden after some anticipated perfunctory displays of self-serving dogmatism, members of Congress faced an insurrection of Trump supporters on Wednesday. Pink himself confirmed he was in Washington, DC with Maus after director Alex Lee Moyer, known for the pro-incel documentary TFW NO GF, posted an image of the three of them in a hotel. “The day we almost died but instead had a great time,” read the cap...

While blasting the band’s “Killing in the Name” over loudspeakers, demonstrators chanted the song’s famous line “F**k you, I won’t do what you tell me” at federal agents. Footage of the scene posted to social media on Saturday looks straight out of a post-apocalyptic movie, with protesters in gas masks pumping their fists and flipping the bird while screaming the song’s profanity-laced line over and over again at federal agents on the other side of a fence. Rage Against the Machine guitarist Tom Morello shared the clip, a...
