Communal clash between Lungudas in Adamawa, Wajas in Gombe claims score of lives

Scores of people have been reportedly killed, while many were injured in the renewed communal clash between the Lungada ethnic group in Adamawa state and their Wajas counterpart in Gombe state. Ibrahim Magu failed to account for interest on N550 billion recovered loot – panel

Voice of Nigeria A prior presidential panel, which investigated the suspended acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Ibrahim Magu, indicted him, a report has alleged. The report noted that the embattled EFCC boss had been unable to account for the interest generated from N550bn cash recovered from 2015 to 2020. The panel is separate from the panel led by a former President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Ayo Salami, which is currently probing Magu and other top officials of the agency. NUJ: Restore military checkpoints on Okene-Lokoja-Abuja road

File Photo Amidst worsening security situation on the Okene-Lokoja-Abuja highway, the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has called for immediate restoration of military checkpoints on the road. The Chairman of the Kogi State council of NUJ, Adeiza Jimoh, made the appeal in a statement issued in Lokoja on Friday. He said that the incessant kidnappings and killings almost on a daily basis on the road by armed bandits necessitated the call. Mr Jimoh gave kudos to the police for their efforts at checkmating the criminals but said that the establishment of military checkpoints will further reduce criminal activities on the road. Police nab eight suspects for rape, sodomy in Kebbi

The Police Command in Kebbi has arrested seven suspected rapists and one for sodomy in the state. The Commissioner of Police in the state, Agunbiade Oluyemi-Lasore, made this known while briefing newsmen in Birnin Kebbi on Tuesday. Oluyemi-Lasore, said that the arrests were made from May to June, adding that the period under review was challenging and eventful for the command. The police Commissioner said that in spite of the daunting challenges, the command was able to crack most of criminal syndicates terrorising the state and made quite a number of arrests. Ogun police framed us as land-grabbers – community leader

The Akinrogun of Meiran land, Chief Joseph Ayodele, whom the Ogun State Police Command claimed to be the leader of a land-grabbing gang, has refuted the claim. Newsmen had reported that Rufai Abdulkareem, Tobi Ajayi and Wasiu Oladipupo were arrested by the police for allegedly shooting at seven workers on a construction site in the state. The Peoples Democratic Party has alleged plots by the All Progressives Congress to use the trio of Governors Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State, Hope Uzodinma of Imo State, and Yahaya Bello of Kogi State to derail the September 19 Edo State Governorship Election. Family indicts vigilance group over missing man in Rivers

Family members of a missing 22-year-old man, Arinze Obiukwu, are asking the Rivers State Police Command to put pressure on a local vigilance group popularly known as OSPAC in Elele Ikwerre Local Government Area to produce him dead or alive. The elder brother of the missing man, Ifeanyi Obiukwu, said Arinze was arrested on the 27th of April 2020 by members of the vigilance group and efforts to reach him or secure his bail has proved abortive since then. Police arrest 46 ‘criminals’, recover N1.5m in Nasarawa

The Nigerian Police Nasarawa State Command has arrested 46 suspected criminals and recovered 1.5 million naira from its operations recently. Commissioner of police in Nasarawa, Bola Longe, disclosed this known to newsmen today at the police headquarters in Lafia. Police seek media support to reunite three children with families

The Police on Monday called for media support in reuniting three stolen children with their families. The Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), Mr Frank Mba, made the call at a media briefing in Abuja. He said that the children were rescued from a criminal syndicate that specialises in stealing and selling children. He said the three children, two girls and a boy were among the six children rescued by the police following report of incessant child stealing in some parts of the country in 2019.
