Christian Eriksen managed to speak to his Denmark team-mates from hospital after his on-field collapse, according to Danish FU (Football Union) director of football Peter Moller. Eriksen was stabilised in hospital after collapsing in the first half of Denmark’s Euro 2020 encounter with Finland in Copenhagen. The playmaker required extensive on-pitch treatment and the match was suspended after he was taken off on a stretcher, before it was resumed more than 90 minutes later. “He collapsed and got help and heart treatment on the field,” Moller told DR. “He was fortunately awake when he left the stadium. “We have been in contact with him, and the players have spoken with Christian. That’s the good news. He is doing well and they are playing the match for Christian. “Our thoughts are with Chri...
Former Arsenal forward Robin van Persie has urged Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel to give “a much bigger role” to Hakim Ziyech. The 28-year-old has made 39 appearances for the Blues across all competitions since teaming up with the side last summer. The winger has played in a number of roles under Tuchel and Van Persie has expressed his displeasure with this, since the Morocco international does not have a definite role at the club. “It is actually a shame that the creativity of players like Ziyech, Pulisic and Kovacic – who I think is a brilliant player – is not being expressed,” Van Persie told De Telegraaf. “Kovacic is their engine and playmaker. Ziyech also has those qualities higher up the pitch, but he should have a much bigger role in the team. “He is now constantly searching [for a p...
Dennis Bergkamp is the latest former player to be inducted into the Premier League Hall of Fame. Real Madrid playmaker Martin Ødegaard will join Arsenal on loan for the rest of the season after the clubs agreed to terms this evening. That is according to The Athletic, who report that a temporary move has now been given the green light by both parties. The Norwegian will fly to London on Sunday ahead of undergoing a medical with the Gunners on Monday morning, when it is expected the deal will be made official. Given his status as an elite sportsperson, Ødegaard is also exempt from COVID-19 quarantine protocols, meaning he will not have to self isolate, if he returns a negative test. The 22-year-old will be Arsenal’s second signing of the window after the acquisition of Mat Ryan from Brighton.
