HONNE’s ‘Quarantine’ Playlist

With everyone sequestered and self-quarantining due to the coronavirus, we’ve asked our favorite artists to come up with playlists that keep you entertained. Here is English electronic music duo HONNE: Quarantine hasn’t been the easiest but these tunes helped lighten the mood for us. Hope they do for you too xx Talking Heads – “Once in a Lifetime”I have been reading David Byrne’s book How Music Works during lockdown. It’s a really inspiring and insightful read about the music industry and I kind of found it strangely comforting to read some personal stories about David’s and Talking Head’s career in music. Whitney – “Golden Days”I wish I’d written this song. I also wish I could watch them play it live or even better, join the guys on stage and do BV’s in that end section. If you’re seeing ...

Ted When’s ‘Social Listening’ Playlist

A few years ago I accidentally took a break from listening to music. It wasn’t deliberate, but I found myself listening to NPR in the car and books on tape while I exercising. For some reason, listening to music started to annoy me. I found myself analyzing and critiquing instead of enjoying and escaping. For me, maybe the best thing to come out of the COVID-19 craziness is the rediscovery of the joy of listening to music. To get out of the house, I started going on long bike rides through the country and listening to playlists without thinking. Now I’m constantly digging for new music again and feeling inspired instead of annoyed. So, here’s a playlist of some songs that don’t annoy me… “Find A Way” – Duckwrth, Alex Mali, Radio AleeI’m not sure what to say about this song besides I love e...

Oliver Tree’s ‘Nostalgic Rock’ Playlist

With everyone sequestered and self-quarantining due to the coronavirus, we’ve asked our favorite artists to come up with playlists that keep you entertained. Here is singer-songwriter, producer, rapper, comedian and filmmaker Oliver Tree: These are some of the rock bands who inspired my debut album “Ugly is Beautiful.” Rock music feels dead in 2020 but for some reason, I felt compelled to make a rock album when absolutely nobody asked for it. Sure my album has a lot of other influences like pop, hip hop and electronic but the album as a whole is a straight forward alternative rock album. To be releasing this music at this time, I can’t help but feel like an outcast from any music scene and any community. When I was in middle school I used to be obsessed with classic rock and managed t...

Tensnake’s ‘It Will Be Alright’ Playlist

With everyone sequestered and self-quarantining due to the coronavirus, we’ve asked our favorite artists to come up with playlists that keep you entertained. Here is German DJ/producer Tensnake. Hi guys, Tensnake here. While we are all trying our best to cope with current situations around the globe, I sat down and put 10 songs together that originally inspired me to dip my toe into electronic music. Now, these songs seem to be very relevant again, as they made me dream of what could be possible in life, and how to change things for the better. Dance music has and always will have the power to change my life and also the lives of so many others. We should not lose hope that things can change. It is what is needed the most at the moment, and inspires hope and positivity. Ce Ce Rogers – “Som...

Nightly’s ‘How It Feels’ Playlist

With everyone sequestered and self-quarantining due to the coronavirus, we’ve asked our favorite artists to come up with playlists that keep you entertained. Here is Nashville alt-pop trio Nightly A lot of these songs are from up and comers; your future favorite bands. These are some songs that we listen to on the road, and now that keep us sane during quarantine. “You Should Probably Just Hang Up” – NightlyThis song was written and recorded in quarantine. It’s cool to live in an age where you can write something and release it a few weeks later. We have a ton of new music coming, but this felt like a fun one to release first. “Always, I’ll Care” – Jeremy ZuckerHonestly I have been jamming this entire album so much that it was really hard to pick just one of these songs. The whole record j...

Z Berg’s ‘It’s My Apocalypse and I’ll Cry If I Want To’ Playlist

With everyone sequestered and self-quarantining due to the coronavirus, we’ve asked our favorite artists to come up with playlists that keep you entertained. Here is veteran Los Angeles-based singer/songwriter Z Berg. With my new record, Get Z To A Nunnery, coming out, I thought perhaps I’d give you a little glimpse into my world and the many characters in it. In this world there is no summer, it is always raining, and the only way to walk home from school is through the graveyard. The buildings are ancient and cavernous. There’s a unique reverb to every room. In some rooms, you’d swear the reverb trail never truly ends… Strange things happen… People disappear. But they turn into echoes that haunt the hallways of the reverb-drenched buildings. Don’t get stuck here… you may never get out. “...

Steve Von Till’s ‘Music Will Get Us Through’ Playlist

With everyone sequestered and self-quarantining due to the coronavirus, we’ve asked our favorite artists to come up with playlists that keep you entertained. Here is Neurosis guitarist Steve Von Till: Many of us let music into our lives in a way that can intentionally or unintentionally frame our experience. It can console, celebrate or validate that which has already happened, providing the soundtrack to our personal histories. Music can be the rhythm of the present moment altering the perception of our realities one way or another and inspiring action. Music can also guide our thoughts for the future, be they dystopian or full of hope. Music is power and the permission to feel all the feelings. Longing for Connectedness to All Things Luke Schneider – “Anteludium”From his brand new debut ...

Luke Top’s ‘Keep LA Weird’ Playlist

With everyone sequestered and self-quarantining due to the coronavirus, we’ve asked our favorite artists to come up with playlists that keep you entertained. Here is singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist Luke Top. Songs by friends and legends that were recorded in and around Los Angeles. These cosmic wonders only scratch the surface of a more colorful and interesting aural map of L.A., rather than the numb conformity of a boxy modern townhouse development. Complete with neighborhood & artist pairings. Jack Name (Vernon) – “Waiting For Another Moon”Jack’s music fills the cracks of L.A.’s shadow spaces. He is one of the most effortlessly strange songwriters I’ve ever come across and we love him for it. Big Search (El Matador Beach) – “Slow Motion Train”Big Search has always been able ...
