Detroit’s legendary Movement festival is officially back. The long-running techno and house music festival made its hotly anticipated return to Hart Plaza for the first time since 2019, welcoming more than 50,000 people over Memorial Day Weekend. “Seeing people walk through the gates for the first time again in three years was very special and quite surreal,” said Movement Festival Director Jason Huvaere in a statement. “We’ve waited a long time for this reunion.” Movement 2022 saw headlining performances from a bevy of electronic music legends such as Richie Hawtin, Adam Beyer and a momentous hometown closing set by Jeff Mills—and we were on the ground at the birthplace of techno to capture it all. Vagrant Records has been celebrating its 25th birthday for a while now, and the party’s first live event landed in Irvine, California on Saturday (May 28). The six-band showcase featured an afternoon and evening with Hot Rod Circuit, the Anniversary, the Get Up Kids, Thrice, Alkaline Trio and Dashboard Confessional (in that order). Thousands of fans semi-filled FivePoint Amphitheatre to see their favorite bands, while dozens of artists reconnected with old friends and family members backstage. At the end of the day, only one question remained: Where’s Koufax? Mosh pits were formed, tears were shed, lyrics were screamed, and SPIN was there to cover it all. Check out SPIN‘s exclusive photos from the Vagrant Records 25 showcase below. Alkaline Trio Matt Skiba of Alkaline Trio D...
It’s the first Monday in May, and that means the Met Gala has arrived! There are few avenues left for Insomniac to influence in the electronic dance music landscape, but the team at Basscon is ensuring that hard dance is represented—and represented well. Last weekend, Basscon took over San Bernardino’s NOS Events Center for their annual Wasteland music festival, a celebration of all things hardstyle. Wasteland featured a massive lineup of global hard dance artists, such as Sub Zero Project, Da Tweekaz, Lady Faith and more. From its production to its logistics, Wasteland 2022 was a major success for Insomniac. This year, organizers debuted a revamped stage design with towering LED walls and lasers galore, among other stage elements that offered no shortage of visual stimulation. EDM.com was on the ground throughout the fest...
Just one look at the cover art for Polo & Pan’s 2021 LP, Cyclorama, and you already have a hint of what this French duo is all about: hyper-saturated colors, whimsical imagery and big impressions. This kaleidoscopic essence came to life in Los Angeles this February, when Polo & Pan took the stage at Shrine Expo Hall for a sold-out spectacle of the acclaimed project. It was like a carnival on psychedelics. The duo arrived ready to play in campy white jumpsuits, strutting around with microphones before taking residency behind the decks. Cyclorama classics like “Tunnel” (with Channel Tres) and “Feel Good” pumped through the speakers as inflatable balls bounced around the crowd. Polo & Pan’s sold-out show in Los Angeles ...

Earlier this year SG Lewis was enjoying a drink in his parents’ living room, celebrating the release of his debut album, times. Its 10 tracks practically bubble over with euphoric sound design and dance-pop spirit, both made for and inspired by the clubs we so sorely missed. But as they say, all good things take time. The renowned Brit’s long-awaited performance of times in Los Angeles was well worth the wait. Complete with live vocals, keys and guitar from Lewis, JAB provided support on percussion alongside Victoria Aycock on keys and bass. SG Lewis performs alongside JAB and Victoria Aycock for a sold out show at Los Angeles’ Shrine Auditorium and Expo Hall. Sergio Ramos was one of the noticeable face that didn’t appear in any of the photos of Real Madrid’s kit launch campaign for the 2021/22 season. MARCA has learned that he wasn’t present at the photo shoot for the new kit, which was launched by Real Madrid and Adidas this Tuesday. While it’s true that the entire squad doesn’t attend such photo shoots, Ramos has always been a central figure in such campaigns. It’s not known if this decision was the club’s or Ramos’ or a mutual one. It could also be the case that the photo shoot was held when Ramos was in isolation due to COVID-19, but Adidas always want as many stars as possible present and the dates would have been moved if there had been a desire for the captain to be present. It should also be pointed out that this has nothing to do with ...
