The style icon’s fashion house shared the news via Twitter, revealing that Westwood died “peacefully and surrounded by her family, in Clapham, South London.” The statement added, “The world needs people like Vivienne to make a change for the better.” The designer rose to prominence in the fashion world in the 1970s, thanks to her anti-establishment punk styles and controversial, androgynous designs. The new wave style icon was also a passionate activist, and frequently channeled issues like climate change into her runway looks. What better way to celebrate a new EP—and the year’s most anticipated electronic album—than with a massive party. Carl Cox took “massive” to a new level on October 15th, taking over London’s Wembley Arena for his first-ever headlining set at the iconic entertainment venue. But it doesn’t stop there. For the very first time, he treated attendees to music from Electronic Generations, his first album in 10 years. The impending record, Cox’s first as a live electronic artist, has the feel of a tour de force for the legendary techno artist, who promised a “true electronic music experience” inspired by the crowds he has watched and directed in dance over his storied career. The Wembley show was every techno fan’s dream. Captivating lights and...

Maluma graces the cover of our 2022 Latin issue, showing off a rather edgy and dramatic fashion style that’s bound to turn heads. The Colombian act, who’s always been very fashion-forward, has evolved over the years, rocking everything from a pink buzz cut to long blond locks and metallic bomber jackets to vibrant sets from his own clothing line. “Fashion for me is a way of self-expression,” the artist previously told Billboard, describing his vision in fashion. “Depending on colors and style, it can describe your mood or enhance it positively. Fashion is like music; creativity and imagination.” The week of Sept. 26, our latest cover star will make his way to the 2022 Billboard Latin Music Week in Miami, where the urban singer, songwriter, actor, entrepreneur and philanthropist will launch...
Queen Elizabeth II welcomed many famous faces into her royal presence over her lifetime, always kindly shaking hands as she received celebrities at various concerts, celebrations in her honor and more during her 70-year-plus reign. Over the years, the monarch — who died Thursday (Sept. 8) at age 96 — greeted musicians including Nat King Cole, Frank Sinatra, Liza Minnelli to Jennifer Lopez, Madonna, Ed Sheeran and more. Elton John, who shared a heartfelt message following the queen’s death, was one superstar who met Queen Elizabeth many times over, and even received the distinction of being knighted by her in 1998, just one year after the death of his close friend Princess Diana. Other musicians who received CBE, MBE or OBE honors from Her Royal Majesty include all four members of The Beatl...
People in cowboy hats and thongs standing in line at the local I Heart Mac & Cheese; golf carts speeding down the streets, bubble guns at the ready; and some of the most enthusiastic, non-eight-year-old patrons that an aviation museum has ever seen…Oh, Splash House, there’s nothing quite like you. It’s Christmas in August this year in Palm Springs, thanks to not one, but two editions of the staple SoCal dance music festival. With Weekend One spanning from August 12th to 14th, the event’s first run this month was a wet and wild takeover of The Renaissance, Margaritaville and Saguaro Hotels by day and the Palm Springs Air Museum by night. As headliner John Summit famously tweeted (and has since deleted), “I’m drunk and I’m high and I’...

My twenties were a journey through good, hard and beautiful moments that I will never forget. Each of them has shaped me into the person that I am today. I am someone who is still learning, but is more certain about what matters and what she wants. Someone who is grateful for every single gift and every single lesson along the way. I am walking forwa...
Austin Butler is set to take on The King of Rock & Roll in Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis, which hits theaters on June 24, 2022. The film is set to explore the life and music of Elvis “through the prism of his complicated relationship with his enigmatic manager, Colonel Tom Parker (Tom Hanks),” according to the film’s description. “The story delves into the complex dynamic between Presley and Parker spanning over 20 years, from Presley’s rise to fame to his unprecedented stardom, against the backdrop of the evolving cultural landscape and loss of innocence in America.” Butler, however, is hardly the first star to portray The King in TV and film. Back in 1979, Kurt Russell transformed into Presley for a biopic directed by John Carpenter. The movie aired two years after Presley’s untimely dea...
