A new Eddie Van Halen coffee-table photo book by renowned rock photographer Ross Halfin is arriving in June via Rufus Publications. The 356-page book, titled Edward Van Halen, will retrace the career of the late guitar legend through the lens of one of rock’s most storied photogs. Halfin’s photo credit can be spotted next to some of the most iconic images in the genre’s history, having also worked with Black Sabbath, Metallica, and more over the years. Like with many of the great band’s of their era, Van Halen were often the subject of Halfin’s visual documentation. His shots of the group are the definitive images of their career, and the pictures of Eddie perfectly captured the virtuoso’s kinetic guitar skills on film. According to the publisher, the book includes classic and unseen photo...
From playful puffins to daunting peaks, we share our top 10 Instagram shots of 2020 Kia has already written about how 2020 has been, uhm, testing to say the least. The year began with great promise, as you will see below, but it wasn’t long before all our trips got cancelled or postponed. As such, many of this year’s Instagram photos were either reflective posts about past trips or shots from hiking and camping jaunts pinched between UK lockdowns. I was fortunate enough to squeeze in a couple of European trips during the summer. In July, I met up with one of my oldest and best friends for a hiking tour of Berchtesgaden National Park in Germany’s Bavarian Alps. Then, in September, I took part in the Highlander Velebit trek in Croatia. Despite these trips, there’s no use pretending...

Joshua Kissi and Micaiah Carter decided to take matters into their hands, focusing on how people view Black lives following the tragic death of George Floyd at the hands of Minnesota police officers. Speaking with GQ, Kissi accurately points out that “My skin color is weaponized and radicalized in so many different ways,” adding, “I’m also a son, I’m a brother, I’m a husband.” The two photographers took it upon themselves to start a collective called See In Black, which features other Black photographers, Anthony Coleman, Florian Koenigsberger, Andre D. Wagner, and Dani Kwateng. Speaking on the collective’s goal, Carter detailed, “We wanted to do something ...

Composed of sweeping landscapes, psychedelic color i...
