Phoebe Bridgers has had an impressive 2020. There have been plenty of accolades and now you can add label boss to her impressive resume. Called Saddest Factory, it is a partnership with Bridgers’ current label, Dead Oceans. “The vision of the label is simple: good songs, regardless of genre,” Bridgers said in a statement. In an interview with Billboard, she detailed her plans, including the imminent release of the first artist on her label. She also explained the reasons why she formed her own label, including her “frustration” with signing a record deal when she was a teenager and detailed the various obstacles that have been put in front of her (“tweet more seriously,” unfair deal points). However, Bridgers told the publication that she’s excited to have her own label — especia...
Phoebe Bridgers, dressed in her signature skeleton suit, performed three songs off her latest album Punisher on Saturday for CBS This Morning. [embedded content] [embedded content] Though Bridgers wasn’t able to tour in support of her sophomore album, which came out in June, she’s come up with creative ways to promote Punisher during the last few months. Earlier this week, she seemingly performed from the Oval Office during NPR’s Tiny Desk At-Home series and teamed up with Arlo Parks for a cover of Radiohead’s “Fake Plastic Trees” that was filmed inside a church. She also performed the album in ...
Ever wonder what it would look like to have a female president in the White House? Well, Phoebe Bridgers gave us a great idea with her performance on NPR’s Tiny Desk At-Home concert. Bridgers swapped her iconic skeleton onesie for a suit and played her set positioned in front of the iconic Resolute desk. Meanwhile, her band was dressed in the signature Secret Service uniforms of a black suit and tie, a white button-down shirt, and shades. They performed “Kyoto,” “Moon Song” and “I Know the End.” “Thanks, guys,” she said after “Moon Song.” “I’m Phoebe. Hope everyone’s enjoying their apocalypse.” Similar to the break in the “I Know the End” video, there’s a bit of a switch in this performance that reveals that the band was standing in front of a green screen. After Bridgers switches guitars,...

The latest, which was released on Sunday, saw her team with another great songwriter Arlo Parks (who handled the keys) on BBC’s Radio 1’s Chillest Show for a cover of Radiohead’s “Fake Plastic Trees.” The performance, which also featured a version of “Kyoto,” was filmed inside of a church. You can check out both performances below. She also covered Gillian Welch’s “Everything Is Free” with Courtney Barnett in July. You Deserve to Make Money E...

Last week, Phoebe Bridgers dropped her latest record, Punisher, a day early last week to the delight of her fans. Last night, she participated in a round of Carpool Karaoke to talk about the decision to do so. “I just had a couple of people reach out and ask me if I was going to put the record out at all with the political climate or even push it down the line,” she told James Corden on The Late Late Show with James Corden. “And I Just feel subtext of that is waiting for people to forget about Black Lives Matter or waiting for white people to talk about themselves on the internet again, which I find insanely cringey and offensive.” She added, “So I just wanted to put it out and give it to people and connect the charities I really care about, especially Downtown Women’s ...
Last week we shared our list of the 50 Best Songs of 2020 (So Far), and we’ve curated a playlist so you can listen to the standout bops of the year in a seamless fashion (you’re welcome). The list covers all musical ground, from the Dixie Chicks to the Used, Dua Lipa to Bob Dylan, Lizzo to TOKiMONSTA, and, let’s face it, is a great source of distraction during a year that seems to just get worse and worse as the months pass. Fiona Apple “confronts her internal strife, but doesn’t sink into it” in “Heavy Balloon” off her equally stunning album Fetch the Bolt Cutters, while Billie Eilish becomes the youngest artist to pen a James Bond theme song with “No Time to Die,” a song that features the 18-year-old’s “beyond-her-years soprano that tops a quietly haunted melody ...
Phoebe Bridgers has shared “I See You,” the latest track to come from her new album Punisher. Previously, Bridgers shared the dreamy “Kyoto.” The song, originally titled “ICU,” Bridgers tweaked it to, in her words, “*gestures at entire world*.” “It’s about my breakup with my drummer. We dated for a few years, made music every day, and were extremely codependent. We became like family to each other, so our breakup was extremely tough. But if this tells you anything about our relationship, we wrote this song together, just like everything else,” Bridgers said of the song in a statement. Additionally, Bridgers has also announced plans for a “Phoebe Bridgers’ World, Tour.” It starts next Tuesday (May 26) with livestream performances taking place in her kitchen, then moves to her bathroom ...
