With this year’s Amsterdam Dance Event only two short weeks away, organizers have finalized the conference’s list of speakers, which now includes Peggy Gou, Richie Hawtin and Stranger Things composers Kyle Dixon and Michael Stein. Also on the docket is a special session called “Hardwell: The Return.” Now just three weeks removed from the release of his comeback album, REBELS NEVER DIE, the Dutch DJ will host an in-depth talk on why he took a hiatus from dance music, what he learned and how he’ll take those lessons into this new chapter of his career. “I’m really happy with the whole decision, and I’ve never been more productive and happy in the studio as I am right now,” Hardwell told EDM.com earlier this year. “It feels way more li...

When the musical Bat-Signal appears, the eyes of Gotham turn to electronic music: Alesso, Peggy Gou, Baauer and more are all featured on the soundtrack for The Batman, now in theaters. In fact, even the film’s lead, Robert Pattinson, tried his hand at crafting ambient tracks during downtime on set—while wearing his Batsuit, no less. The music of Kevin Saunderson, Patrick Topping and Corvad, as well as of icons like Nirvana, Dean Martin and Al Martino, fills in the gaps where Pattinson’s music quite didn’t make the cut. “As a die hard [sic] Batman fan I can’t believe I have a song in the new movie,” added Alesso, who contributed “DARK” to the film. As the occasional airplane engine rumbled in the nearby runway, revelers danced under the stars in a not-so-traditional dancefloor: a repurposed air museum. Guests attending the inaugural Desert Air Festival found themselves grooving to class acts from across the electronic dance scene surrounded by aircraft of a bygone era. Curated by Goldenvoice, the aviation-themed festival is the natural successor of Splash House‘s after-hours events held at the Palm Springs Air Museum. As one of the most unique festival settings found anywhere around, the event leaned into the aeronautic theme, immersing attendees in everything flight-related. Channel Tres performs at Desert Air. Quinn Tucker/Quasar Media/Desert Air Upon entering the event, a line of warplanes were proudly displayed, offeri...
Have you ever wanted to cruise above the skies of Palm Springs in an authentic World War II airplane? Too exciting for you? How about a relaxing early morning hike along a palm tree-lined oasis and into a sacred vortex? Not much of a hiker? Maybe a healing sound bath and yoga class on a rooftop with unobstructed mountain views will hit the spot before a day of partying. Those amenities are all available for purchase as part of Desert Air’s Daytime Affairs programming. The inaugural house and techno festival is expanding its offerings into more than just a two-day music event. Mallory Turner Curated by Goldenvoice, the masterminds behind Splash House and Coachella, Desert Air will occupy the grounds of the Palm Springs Air Museum for a two-day house and techno affair. The festival wil...

Being one of the more unique open-air spaces in Southern California, the museum offers attendees views of World War II aircraft and industrial hangars all under the arid desert skies. The inaugural affair will feature an array of underground electronic artists headlined by The Martinez Broth...
Renowned dance music producer and label head Peggy Gou is officially back in the game. Just last month she ended a two-year hiatus from solo releases and her latest, “I Go,” proves she’s just heating up. Inspired by the UK rave culture of the early aughts, the song is out July 9th via Gou’s Gudu Records imprint. You can pre-order the record on vinyl here. “I Go” is a scintillating blend of house and techno, with elements of disco and synthwave folded in along the way. Bright chimes, brisk percussion and a pulsing bassline make up its groove. Meanwhile, Gou’s breathy vocals maintain the momentum, adding texture and tension to its minimalistic soundscape. According to a statement from Gou, the song originated in an airport bathr...
