On Thursday morning, Queen Elizabeth II died at the age of 96 at Balmoral Castle, her estate in Scotland. She had ruled for 70 years, the longest tenure in history. During her reign, she knighted a number of musicians, including Mick Jagger, Elton John, Paul McCartney. In response to the queen’s death, John wrote, “along with the rest of the nation, I am deeply saddened to hear the news of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth’s passing. “She was an inspiring presence to be around, and lead the country through some of our greatest, and darkest, moments with grace, decency and a genuine caring warmth. Queen Elizabeth has been a huge part of my life from childhood to this day, and I will miss her dearly.” “I mourn with my country the passing of our greatest Queen,” Ozzy Osbourne wrote in a statement o...
A little less conversation and more dancing, yeah? The legendary Elvis Presley rose to prominence in the 50s and is prevalently known as the “King of Rock and Roll.” With culture-shifting songs like “Hound Dog” and “Heartbreak Hotel,” the late rockabilly great has stood the test of time as among the most influential musicians in history. With Presley’s new biopic Elvis in theaters, we’re reminded of just how impactful his art was on the musical zeitgeist. As the King’s legacy continues to live on, here are some of our favorite remixes of his music. Earlier this year, trance music legend Armin van Buuren rang in the landmark 1,000th episode of A State of Trance, one of dance music’s most tenured radio programs of all time. While some of the celebrations have been postponed, namely van Buuren’s sold-out ASOT1000 show in Utrecht, the occasion has since yielded the “This Is What It Feels Like” producer’s eighth studio album, A State Of Trance Forever. The highly collaborative effort is a meeting of the minds when it comes to all things trance. van Buuren has teamed up with titans of the genre Paul Oakenfold, Sander van Doorn, Rank 1, and many more to craft a diverse selection of sonics, enough to satisfy every niche listener. Of course the cascading, ethereal vocal melodies of tracks like “Divino&...
In a vibrant audiovisual display, Manchester-based electronic music group LZ7 have unveiled the official remix music video for their latest track, “Together.” The single was released as part of an EP last month, featuring two remixes from legendary producer Paul Oakenfold. The mesmeric vocals are mirrored in the captivating music video, which debuted today. Check out the official “Together” remix music video below. Over the...
Dance music wasn’t always this popular. In fact, the sights and sounds we now associate with the genre were once considered taboo. They were the emblems of a counterculture forced to blossom not out in the open, but in the safe confines of arcane nightclubs and warehouse raves. So how did electronic music break through the glass ceiling? Before the songs of Above & Beyond, Roger Sanchez, Armin van Buuren, and other legendary producers rattled the world’s biggest festival stages, they were auditory ugly ducklings on a quest to reach their full potential. The music always had the potential to fly, but without the help of the gutsy independent record labels willing to back it, its wings would forever remain clipped. And after all these years, those indies have proven...

Ready for a blast from the past? Think back to the simpler times of 2009, when your only worry was whether or not you were going to miss the new Jersey Shore episode. Jersey Shore was one of those guilty pleasure programs you couldn’t peel your eyes away from. Filled to the brim with drama, debauchery, and, of course, fist-pumping, it’s no wonder the absurdly entertaining show lasted for six seasons and received multiple spin-offs. Every year we couldn’t wait to see Snooki, Pauly D, Vinnie, J-Wow, Sammy, Ronnie, and of course Mike “The Situation” head back to the sun and booze-soaked boardwalk of the Jersey Shore. One thing you might have missed in between Snooki getting arrested or Sammy screaming at Ron for making fun of her big toe is that the show was...
